FFA members playing in the band were Carly Barns ley, Allen Joiner, Reggie Buch anan ami Larry Bennett. There were five bands who were win ners in their respective areas of the stale. Each played a max imum of five minutes. Songs of their own choosing were play ed. This was the second con secutive year that the Perry band has participated in the state finals. Mr. E. H. Cheek, Perry High Vocational Agriculture teacher is attending an Agri business short course at the University of Georgia this week. Proced ures and techniques for placing students ot Vocational Agricul ture in Agricultural businesses as part of their school experi ences will be studied. The department was chosen by the stale de partment of education to work with the University of Georgia in carrying out a pilot program in this area several years ago. From Ibis program many other schools are now carrying out the same type program. Mr. Thomas Rahn, Young Farmer and Adult teacher of Vocational Agriculture, has re signed to accept a position ol teacher of Vocational Agricul ture in his home county of Ef fingham. Mr. Rahn taught in the Perry High School for the past year. He was also teach er of horticulture in the high school. Gene Grinstead, Reporter. Ray Family Attends 2 Conventions Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ray have returned home after a ten day trip through Florida. While away, they were guests of the Georgia Muni cipal Association during its 37th convention held at Jek yll Island June 21 23. At Daytona Beach they at tended the Florida Pest Con trol convention, where Mr. Herman Fellton, President, of Getz Exterminators Inc., was a featured convention speaker. Charles and Alan Ray, ac companied their parents on the trip, and brought home seven pounds of bass from a fishing trip at Lake Wales. Argue with the editor. Write him a letter. Extension Club Meets The Houston County Ex tension Home Economics Club met June 2 at the Agri culture building. Seven mem bers were present. Mrs. Joe Klouda, president presided Mrs. Marie Meadows gave the devotional. Party Honors Miss Miller Miss Susan Miller was hon ored at a “Going Away” par ty, given Tuesday of last week by Miss Bonnie Gib son at her home. The hon oree; her parents, M Sgt. and Mrs. Max Miller, and Paul have gone to Hawaii where they will make their home for a four year tour of duty. A color scheme of green and white was effectively car ried out in the decorations and dainty refreshments. The hostess presented Susan with a pretty yellow gold in itialed anklet.
