C.A.R. Holds Yule Program
At December Meeting Here

Williams at the December
meeting of the Commodore
Perry Society, C.A.R., at the
home of Mrs. Lewis B. Smyth,
Senior Society President. The

Jerry Brewer
Receives Bronze
Star In Vietnam
U.S.ARMY, VIETNAM -
Army Specialist Five Jerry O.
Brewer, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Wallace Brewer, Route 1,
Perry, Ga., recently received
the Bronze Star Medal in
Vietnam.
He was presented the Bronze
Star Medal for distinguishing
himself through meritorious
service in connection with
military operations against
hostile forces in Vietnam. The
medal, adopted in 1944,
recognizes outstanding
achievement.
Spec. Brewer received the
award while assigned as a
Medical Aidman in
headquarters, 3rd Battalion of
the America! Division’s 82nd
Artillery.
The Specialist entered the
Army in June 1969, completed
basic training at Ft. Campbell,
Ky., and was stationed at Ft.
Sam Houston, Tex., before
arriving overseas.
He is a 1969 graduate of Perry
High School.
RFC David Horne
Promoted To SP/4
U.S. ARMY, GERMANY-
David W. Home, son of Mr. and
Mrs. James S. Horne, Route 1,
Perry, Ga., recently was
promoted to army specialist
four while serving with the 3rd
Infantry Division near Sch
weinfurt, Germany.
Spec 4 Horne, an armor
reconnaissance specialist with
headquarters company, Ist
Battalion of the Division’s 30th
Infantry.
He entered the Army in
November 1969, completed
basic training at Ft. Benning,
Ga., and was last stationed at
Ft. Knox, Ky.
The 22-year-old soldier ia a
1969 graduate of Siga Technical
and Vocational School,
Americus.

serving with Fighter Squadron

A Christmas Tree for the
Birds, a small pine which was
decorated with small cups of
many colors, and filled by the
members with peanut butter,
suet, bread crumbs, andraisins,
was placed in the garden for
winter visitors. Members were
reminded to keep their bird
feeders filled during the winter
months.
Flags were flown on
Thanksgiving, Pearl Harbor
Day, Bui of Rights Day and
Christmas, it was reported.
Flags are to be flown on New
Years Day.
A special talk on the proper
use. of the Flag of the United
States of America was given by
Blake Smyth, Ist Vice
President of the Georgia
Society, C.A.R. It was an
nounced that Blake has been
appointed as Credentials
Chairman for the 1971 National
Convention, N.S.C.A.R., by
Lance Emchke, National
President.
Plans were discussed for the
State Conference in Augusta in
February, and for the National
Convention in Washington,
D.C., in April.

The Annual Meeting of Members of
Security Federal Savings and Loan
Association of Perry will be held at
4:00 p. m. on Wednesday, January
20,1971. The purpose of the meeting
is for the election of Directors and
other business of concern to mem
