APRIL IS "FREEDOM SHRINE MONTH”
Exchange Club Presents Shrines To Perry Schools
Mayor Pro-Tem Dan
Britton Monday signed a
proclamation prepared by
the Exchange Club of Perry
declaring April as “Freedom
Shrine Month’’ in Perry. The
Exchangites are presenting
Freedom Shrines to Perry
High School and Westfield
Schools on Wednesday April
19.
The proclamation reads in
part “whereas the National
Exchange Club is solely an
American organization and
man of its programs are
directed toward fostering an
appreciation of the
privileges and respon
sibilities of American

Exchange Club of Perry has
chosen to sponsor one of
these programs, “The
Freedom Shrine’’... Now
therefore be it resolved, that
the Mayor Protem of Perry,
Georgia does hereby
proclaim the month of April
1972 to be “Freedom Shrine
Month,” endorses the Ex
change Club of Perry in its
efforts to maintain and
revitalize our love of
freedom, and encourages the
People of Perry to join with
the Exchange Club to make
this a worthwhile program to

The Freedom Shrine is a
collection of 28 historical
American documents
ranging from The Mayflower
Compact, The Declaration of
Independence, to the In
Cub Scouts Hold Turtle
Race At March Meeting
Eric Thomas, Frankie
Quinn and Stephen Rhoads
were the winners for the
Turtle Race conducted for
the Cub Scouts at the March
meeting of Pack 216 held
Thursday night at the First
Baptist Fellowship Hall. Cub
master Jerry Payne
presided following the
opening ceremony presented
by Webelos Den 1.
During the evening, Jef
frey and Candler
Pritchett were elevated to
the rank of Webelos and
become members of Den 2.
Frankie Quinn was inducted
in the Pack as a Bobcat.
Awards presented by
Chairman Bob Culpepper
went to Cubs Lee Culpepper,
Rob Tuggle and Steven
Johns receiving gold arrow
points; Chuck Spears, Bear;
John Cocke and Weston
Parke, Wolf; Ken Payne and
Andy Dick, gold arrow point;
Jeff Lasseter, two year pin.

Mrs. Esterine Wright
Walker, 69, of 1822 Watson
Blvd., mother of Warner
Robins Mayor Homer J.
Walker, Jr., died Saturday
after a long illness.
Services were at 2 p.m.
Monday in Warner Robins
First Baptist Church with
burial in Magnolia Park
Cemetery.
Mrs. Walker, a native of
Jones County, came to
Warner Robins 42 years ago.
She was a charter member
of First Baptist Church, the
first president of the WMU of
the church, and at the time of
her death she was the owner
and operator of Walker
Trailer Park.
Mrs. Walker was a
member of Daughters of the
Nile Temple in Macon, the
DAR, the Rebecca Lodge,
the DAV auxiliary, the
Women of the Moose Lodge,
and the Walker Park Garden
Club, which she organized.
She was elected Mother of
the Year five years ago by
the Evening Optimist Club.
Survivors include her son;
five sisters, Mrs. Lynwood
W. Stokes of Warner Robins,
Mrs. Thomas E. Dawson of
Ludowici, Mrs. I>ee R. Routh
of Dalton; Mrs. Lovick P.
Lingo of Cochran; Mrs.
Herman Heinemann of
Chattanooga, Tenn.; a
brother. James Harris
Wright Jr. of Gray; and four
grandchildren.
Luster
Services for Mrs. Lottie
Mae lister, 60. of Perry
were held Monday at 1 p.m.
in Mt. Galilee Primitive
Baptist Church. Burial was
in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Luster died Tuesday in
Seminole Memorial Hospital
in Sanford, Fla.
Survivors include her
husband, Eddie Joe Luster of
Sanford, Fla.; five
daughters, Mrs. Rebecca
Luster, Mrs. Carrie Mae
Ritley, and Mrs. Effie Bell
Keen, all of Perry; Mrs.
Elberta Jones, and Miss
Joann Luster, both of San
ford, Fla.; four sons, Henry
Wellons of Miami, Fla.;
Asrie lousier of Perry; Eddie
R. Luster and Charlie
Luster, both of Sanford,
Fla.; two brothers, Ide
Roundtree of Terine, Fla;
Sam Roundtree of
Cleveland, Ohio; two half
sisters, Mrs. Ida Mae
Shannon and Mrs. Eliza
Gilbert, both of Terine, Fla,
and 29 grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren.

Details of the dedication
ceremonies will be an
nounced later as they are
completed.
Billy Jones completed
requirements for the
engineer award and Billy
also received a three year
pin. Completing
requirements for awards in
Webelos Den 2 were Ben
Wright, outdoorsman;
Skipper Cliff, scientist; Eric
Thomas, P’orester, geologist,
naturalist, sportsman; Keith
Beckham, outdoorsman,
scholar; Ricky Funk, two
year pin and showman;
Darryl Parker, craftsman;
Allen Purser, artist,
forester, scientist, showman
and two year pin.
Den 5 was declared winner
of the attendance banner for
the month.
Announcements con
cerning the Circus which is
planned for the Pack in
April were announced.
