Hicks, Sr. announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary l*t Kaye, to John Paul McCord. Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. McCord, Sr. of Perry. Miss Hicks is the Grand daughter of Mr. C. C. Alligood, also is a graduate of Perry High School and Auburn University. He is employed by the Peach County Board of education. The couple plan to live in Perry following a June wedding at the home of the bride’s parents. Akikta Club Announces New 1972 Officers The Akikta Club held its March meeting at the home of Mrs. Shirley Davis with thirteen members present. As members arrived they were served refreshments by the hostesses, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Geneva Griffin and Mrs. Wanda Gray. Mrs. Marguerite Messer, President, presided at the business meeting. The following officers wre elected for the coming year: president, Elva Culpepper; vice president, Bunny Darnell; secretary, Linda Davis; treasurer, Geneva Griffin; parliamentarian, Alice Phelps; executive board members, Marguerite Messer, Jane Perfect, June Coker. Eight new members were voted into the club. These will be entertained at the party on Saturday, March 15. The members also voted on the outstanding Akikta Club member for the year. She will be presented at the annual luncheon in May. The club decided to have the concession stand at the Antique Show again next year. The club will help with the cancer drive and Mrs. Shirley Davis will serve as chairman. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Dusty Miller of Evanston, Ind. were Sunday evening guests of Mr, and Mrs. J. M. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. J. J. Morrow. The bride is the daughter f^erAonciid Mr. and Mrs. Lynward Barrett of Macon, spent the week-end with their respective parents. Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Barrett and Beverly and Mr. and Mrs. Lynward Barrett spent Tuesday of last week in Decatur with Mr. and Mrs. Lonice Barrett and family. That night they attended the wedding of their daughter, Barbara to Rev. G. I.ewis Wright which was held at the Peachtree Baptist Church in Atlanta. Beverly attended her sister as Maid-of-honor. Sunday night, Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Barrett, Mr. and He is pastor of the Free Providence Baptist Church in Cochran; pianist at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Griffin; assistant choir director and assistant pastor at the Macedonia Baptist Church, and assistant pastor at the St. James Baptist Church, Jackson. Mrs. Lewis Wright and Miss Beverly Barrett and Mr. Buddy Bedgood attended the live drama entitled “He Touched Me” which was presented at the Macon Evangelistic Church in Macon. Attending the spring conference of District I Pilot Clubs in Atlanta this weekend will be Mrs. Betty Roper, Mrs. Betty Richerson, Mrs. Jackie Holtzclaw, Mrs. Sara Sat terfield, Mrs. Jewel Hay, Miss Barbara Jones, Mrs. F aye Tharpe and Mrs. Macy Skinner. The meeting will be held at the Royal Motor Coach Motel beginning Friday. Mrs. Roper, as president of the Perry Club, will give the response to the Welcome of the Mayor of Atlanta and the Royal Coach manager. The Ernest Sizemore Family and the Cassey Family camped at High Falls State Park during the Spring Holidays. Mrs. Allen Fountain was invited to a Tea Party by the F ourth Grade Social Studies Class at Perry Elementary last Wednesday. Mrs. F’ountain was visiting in Perry with her husband who is serving in the Air F’orce. A native of Flpswitch, England, Mrs. F’ountain showed pictures of her country and the children were given an opportunity to ask questions which they had prepared as part of the assignment in their study of Flngland.
