* TELEGRAM SENT TO SEN. KENNEDY UDC Protests Senator’s Action The April meeting of the Sgt. Clinton C. Duncan Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy was held in the Conference Room of the Security Federal Bank with Mrs. Frank Bonner and Mrs. Norine Jones as hostesses. Mrs. Hollis Kezar president, presided. Mrs. Jones, historian, gave the devotional followed by a prayer. A report was given that a telegram has been sent to Senator Ted Kennedy protesting the statement made by him on the floor of the United States Senate calling the Confederate Soldiers traitors. A nominating committee was appointed to submit a slate of officers for the year 1972-73. Mrs. Tom Cater presented a most interesting program on Southern Leaders after Perry High School Band Members Place High In Columbus Meeting Members of the Perry High School Band who participated in the Solo and Ensenble Contest last Saturday at Columbus, Georgia won two second places ami 'me third place. Charles Hardy acted as Master ot Ceremonies and introduced each contestant. Taking a second place was the “War Between the States”, with special em phasis on the work of Generals Robert E. and Joseph E. Johnston. a Brass Quartet composed of Brian Eastman, baritone; Richard Owens and David Heitholt on trombone, with Charles Hardy on the tuba. They played “Cragged Pass.” Another second place was won by a clarinet duo featuring Cindi Williams and Janice Lollis playing I“Greensleeves” and “Memories of Mozart.” Richard Owens won third place for his trombone solo, HAYNEVILLE By Mrs. W.D. Henson Jr. Mrs. H. W. Huff had Sunday guests for dinner. They were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Huff, Mr. Billy Huff and son Greg from Macon, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Huff; Mr. and Mrs. Wimp Huff and daughter, Melanie; and young Miss Angela Huff from Perry.
