Whipple, local businessman, Eagle Scout and recent recepient of the Silver Beaver Award at the Central Georgia Council banquet, was guest speaker at the Court of Honor held Tuesday night April 25 in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church for the Scouts of local Troop 96. Mr. Whipple related to his audience of Boy Scouts and their parents, the impact the Scouting program has had on his life and challenged each Scout to reach the highest goal in Scouting. Bobby Brooks, assistant Scout Master introduced Mr. Whinole and served as spokesman for the evening’s program. Senior Scout leaders are Richard Owens, Mike Bowles and Steve Howard. The Scouts and their leaders have worked to build the Troop to its very best. Attendance at the weekly meetings has been one hundred per cent almost every week. Participation in service projects and troop camp outs has been excellent through the year. Men in the community have visited the weekly meetings to aid the boys in their advancement. W. W. Rush shared his knowledge of the con stellations at a recent meeting. Jerry Payne, Cubmaster of Pack 216, is expected to visit this week. Six boys and Leader Brooks spent a week at Camp Benjamin Hawkins last summer and some twenty boys including Webelos Scouts to come up next month will attend the camp in late summer. The hard work of the boys showed results when they were recognized by Scout master Montgomery. Scouts who have attained the rank of Tenderfoot during the year are Mike Rucker, Mike Willard, Mike Graham, Tim Holderfield, John Arnall, David Howard, Terry Partain and Andy Poole. Those receiving the second class award were Mark Brooks, Mark Montgomery, James Parker, Jay Turner, Rosendo Prendes. Barry ! Other boys in Troop membership who are completing requirements for the Tenderfoot rank are Jeff Henson, Allen Sawyer, Steven Birkhofer and Benjamin Isaacks. The officers of the Troop are Barry Rogers, senior patrol leader; Jay Turner, scribe; Mike Willard, Bugler and Mark Brooks, librarian. Patrol leaders of the two Perry Cub Scouts Enjoyed Big Circus Day Saturday All the thrills of a real big circus were present for Circus Day held Saturday afternoon, April 29 for Cub Scout Pack 216 in the Lutheran Church yard. Booths were set up for games such as shooting gallery, fish pond, dart game, elephant peanut toss, and bean bag toss. Sno cones, popcorn, and cokes were sold to the large crowd of participants. Ringmaster Allen Tabor announced the acts in the center ring. Circus music was played during the performances. The center ring act began with Webelos Den 1 band playing and progressed through the acts of tight rope walking, clown acts, magic tricks and animal taming. Following the circus acts, the regular monthly pack meeting was conducted by Cubmaster Jerry Payne. Awards presented by Chairman Bob Culpepper PERRY, GEORGIA, THURSDAY, MAY 4, 1972 patrols, Eagles and Warriors, are Mark Mon tgomery and John Arnall. Webelos Scouts of Cub Pack 216 along with their leader Norman Owens and Cub master Jerry Payne were special guests. Mrs. Whipple, wife of the guest speaker was also present. Webelos activity badges presented to Den 1 by leader Norman Owens were Boyd Brooks, forester; Mark Richardson,engineer; Eddie Parker, engineer and two year pin; Keith Owens, outdoorsman. Den 2 awards presented by leader Art Cliff were Ricky Funk, aquanaut, scholar; Allen Purser, naturalist, scholar, sportsman, traveler; Ben Wright, engineer; Allen Ray and Candler Pritchett, two year pins. Webelos Den 1 won the attendance banner. The Cubs and Leaders of Pack 216 wish to thank local businesses and organizations for their support of this fund raising project. Perry Kiwanis Club Cited Perry Kiwanis Club President Jim Worrall recently reported to the club that the local club has received recognition from the Georgia District Office of Kiwanis International for the outstanding work done by the club during the past several months. The Perry Kiwanis Club was recently rated as the number three club in the Fifth Division of Georgia Kiwanis. In a special letter to the Perry Kiwanis Club, the club was notified that the In ternational President of Kiwanis was a recent guest in the White House to discuss with President Nixon the Operation Drug Alerk Program of Kiwanis In ternational. Operation Drug Alert is the nationwide civic project of all Kiwanis Clubs in the United States. The program has gained world wide recognition for the success it has had in assisting hundreds of communities in dealing with the drug problem. The Perry Kiwanis Club recently elected D.C.
