Houston County School Supt. David A. Perdue presents Mrs. Norma Mayo with a placque designating her “Educational Secretary of the Year”, for the county. Mrs. Mayo was selected for the honor by the Houston County Educational Secretaries. Mayo Named "Ed Sec. Os The Year" Mrs Norma Mayo has been chosen “Educational Secretary of the Year” by the Houston County Educational Secretaries. A placque was presented to Mrs. Mayo by David A. Perdue, Houston County School Superintendent, at the April meeting of the group Doris Lee revealed Mrs. Mayo's name as winner in a “This is Your Life" presentation Surprising her with their presence were her husband. Mrs. Mayo has been employed by the Board of ★ Perry Pilot Club Meets ★ The monthly program meeting of the Pilot Club of Perry was held at Ochlahatchee Gubhouse on Tuesday, April 25. The Committee on Education and International Relations with Mrs. Marjorie Deibert as Chairman, planned the program Several guests joined the fifteen Pilot Gub members for dinner. They were Mrs. Mary Ferguson. Mrs Vivian Crutchfield, Mrs. Ann Chastain, Mrs linda Hay, Mrs. Norma Wilson, Mrs. Venla Bradley, Miss Dee Weems, and Mrs Rebecca Price of Adairsville Gay Coleman and Dennis Lockndge, Health Program Representatives from the North Central District of The Georgia Department of Public Health, presented a very informative program on the subject of Venereal Diseases. The film “A Quarter Million Teenagers” was shown and Mr Coleman talked about the problem of these diseases and the work of the Health Department in fighting them He pointed out that Georgia has the highest rate of reported cases of syphilis per one thousand population in the nation and that Atlanta has the highest rate in Georgia. The middle Georgia area rates very high in reported cases also These high percentages may be attributed in part to the fact that the case finding program in Georgia is very Education for eleven years. She is employed in the bookkeeping department at the county office building in Perry. “She gives untiringly of herself and always has a cheerful voice and smile,” was the testimonial of the Educational Secretaries to Mrs. Mayo. deligent and also because Georgia law requires both Physicians and Health Departments to report all cases of Syphilis. Lamb of Perry- announce the birth of a son William Richard, bom at the Perry- Houston County Hospital on April 24, 1372. Mrs. Mary Deborah Lamb is the former Debbie Pryor of Perry. The grandparents are Burrell William Lamb and Doris Inez Lamb. Miss Annie Rawls of Grovania announce the birth of a daughter, Lysandra Nicole, bom at the Perry- Houston County Hospital on April 23, 1972. The grandparents are Mrs. Annie Kendrick and Mr. Zebedee Rawls Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin M. Kitchens, 111 of Byron an nounce the birth of a daughter, Jennifer Cherie bom at the Houston County Hospital on April 27, 1972 Mrs. Kitchens is the former Miss Jeanne Williams of Byron. Birdsong announce the birth of a son, Jeffrey Howell, on Thursday, April 27, 1972 at the Houston County Hospital, Warner Robins. Mrs. Birdsong is the former Carol Louise Collier of Perry. Idaka Club Holds Business Meeting Idaka Club held its annual business meeting on Tuesday, April 25th, at the home of Mrs. Heyward Boyette. Mrs. Jerome Bloodworth, president, presided.
