Members of the Perry High School Distributive
Education (DECA) class held their annual em
ployer’s appreciation banquet at the Holiday Inn
last Thursday. Distributive Education is a joint
effort between the school and the community
where students work part of the school day and

The State Conference of
Garden Clubs, held recently
in Macon, was reported on
by the delegates, Mrs. Yates
Green and Mrs. Smyth. Cer
tificates and awards won by
the club were shown.
During the presentation of
awards to club members for
exhibits during club
meetings, the Chairman of
Clerks, Mrs. J. P. Risher,
presented the following: Ist
prize for the most points for
Horticulture to Mrs. A. C.
Pritchett, and Ist prize for
most points for
Arrangements to Mrs.
Gardner Watson.
A rising vote of thanks was
given to Mrs. Green for her
outstanding work during her
year of presidency, and a gift
presented to her. Ap
preciation was also ex
pressed to the officers and
chairmen who served with
her.

Rose Show Award
David Phelps, member of
the Middle Georgia Rose
Society and the Macon Men's
Garden Club, was recepient
of the silver award for the
best single floribunda rose
shown at the Deep South
Rose Show and Convention
held in Jacksonville, Fla.
over the weekend. Other
places given to his roses on
display were three blue first
place ribbons, three red
second place ribbons, one
yellow third place and one
white fourth place.

Piggly Wiggly manager Randall Daniel assisted
students in the Perry Jr. High CVAE math class in
showing them how to properly operate a modern
cash register. Daniel brought several items from
his store and showed the students how to ring
items and add sales tax along with other aspects
