go to Cartersville, Wed
nesday due to a death of Mrs.
Lewis’ brother-in-law,
Robert L. Lipscomb.
W.W. Martin is a patient at
the Medical Center of
Central Georgia, Macon.
Ronny Rackley, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Harvey Rackley, is
a student at Georgia Tech.
Mrs. Martha Mac Michael
and Miss Sharyl Colwell are
visiting relatives in Ohio for
several weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rogers
were called to Sparta on
Tuesday due to the death of
Mr. Roger’s uncle.

Mobile, Ala. spent last week

enjoyed a camping trip to
Moccasin Creek State Park
on Lake Burton in North

returned home with the
Jenkins for a visit and to
visit relatives in Vicksburg,
Miss.

Bullington attended the
weekend conference of the
South Georgia United
Methodist Youth Fellowship
at Cuthbert. Janet Gornto,
who is working with a
Conference Drama Group
for the summer, was also
present.
Paul Davis left Altanta
Sunday with the University
of Georgia Study Abroad
group for France where he
will study French at the
University of Dijon retur
ning to the States in Sep
tember.
Carl Blackstock of
Caldwell, Idaho spent last
week with his cousins,
Phillip, David and Richard
Washington.
Mr. and Mrs. Luther
Mosteller were called to
Bronwood on Thursday due
to the death of Mrs.
Mosteller’s uncle.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Flory
and children, Robby and
Robin of Dayton, Ohio will
arrive this week to visit Mrs.
Flory’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Joe McNutt.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bailey
and daughters, Ellen and
Nancy, returned Thursday
from a two week tour of the
Mid-western States.
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy
Storey and family spent the
weekend at Jekyll Island
attending a State Farm
Insurance meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Gardner
of Atlanta visited Mrs.
Gardner’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Moody Mulkey for the
Father’s Day weekend.

Allen at Butler.

Mayo Davis returned home
Sunday from a five week
tour of the West.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Able
spent the weekend in Ab
beville, S.C. Lisa and Kelly
Able returned home with
their parents after spending
several weeks with relatives
in Abbeville.
The Rev. and Mrs. A. B.
Barnhill and family have
moved to Perry and are
making their home on Frank
Satterfield Road. Rev.
Barnhill has been pastor of
the Second Memorial Baptist
Church for several years and
until this time resided in
Warner Robins.
Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Beeland
of LaGrange and Mr. and
Mrs. Rob Beeland and
family of Macon visited Mr.
and Mrs. Martin Beeland
and family during the
weekend.
John Birdsong is spending
two weeks in Dalton with his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Birdsong.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Richardson spent the
weekend in the North
Georgia mountains. Mark
and Susan Richardson are
visiting their grandmother,
Mrs. E. D. Tomlinson in
Dublin.

Potourri Club Installs
New Officers At Meeting
The Potpourri Club
recently held an installation
meeting at the County
Agricultural Building. The
meeting opened with an
appropriate devotional read
by Virginia Dillon which
described the beatitudes of a
leader, followed by the
minutes read by Elsie King.
Houston County Home
Economist Dee Weems then
conducted the installation of
new officers during a can
dlelight ceremony. Installed
as new president is Vi Fasse;
Claudean Malstrom is first
vice president, Mildred
Kirkpatrick is second vice
president, Carol Morrison is
secretary and Martha
Atkinson is treasurer. Miss
Weems commended
outgoing president Jane
Perfect and all outgoing
officers and committee
chairmen for the fine work
they had done during the
year.
New president Vi Fasse
then opened the business
portion of the meeting by
naming the new committee
chairmen. Elsie King is
Sunshine chairman; Polly
Kasper is Safety chairman;
Cathy McCullock is Family
Life chairman; Phyllis
Heitholt is Health chairman
and Gerri Lohmeyer is
Publicity chairman.
The main item of business
was Achievement Day,
which will be held on Sep
tember 21 from 2 p.m. until
5 p.m. This year the club
project will be home fur
nishings made by members.
On September 19 the club
will put up shelves to provide
space to display items which
should be brought by
members on September 20
between 1 and 3 p.m.
Members are asked to bring
baked goods on Achievement
Day morning between 8:30
and 9 a.m. Interesting
demonstrations will begin at
2 p.m. Door prizes will be
awarded.
Members were informed
that no meetings will be held
during the summer but that
the next meeting will be held
on September 12, one week
early, to allow time to
prepare for Achievement
Day. Members were asked to
bring cotton materials to this
meeting for use in a quilt
which will be worked on
during the year.
After the meeting ad
journed, members sat down
to a covered dish luncheon
which included an in
teresting variety of delicious
foods. Hostesses were Polly
Kasper, Juanita Seaborne
and Linda Johnson.
Delphian Club
Holds Picnic
The Delphian Club
“Summer Picnic” was held
Thursday night, June 8, at
the tranquil lake house of
Mr. and Mrs. Yates Green.
Delicious steaks were grilled
for members and their
husbands. Mr. and Mrs.
Currey Robinson of
Nicholasville, Kentucky,
were guests.
Hostesses for this en
joyable evening were Mrs.
Yates Green, Mrs. Cooper
Etheridge, Mrs. Floyd Tabor
and Mrs. Alton Hardy.
