'B’ LEAGUE ACTION
Panthers Lose 7-4
In a recent “B” league
contest in Warner Robins our
Perry Panthers went down
to defeat by 7 to 4. The
Pan tilers were unable to get
any hits off tough Tony
Pollard, Dodger hurler.
Pollard was really bringing
his slants to the plate as
evidenced by his total of 17
strike outs. This must be a
new record for “B" league
pitchers. Our Panthers were
lucky enough to score 4 runs
off walks with an error
thrown in. Oddly enough
Perry’s Horace Marshall
pitched a two hitter himself
but was a victim of his own
walks plus two Panther
errors. The best way to sum
up the game is to say it was a
pitchers duel and hitters had
the night off. Dodgers
Pollard and Cary Rivers got
their teams base hits.
PoUard is quite a pitcher
having thrown a no
hitter at the Phillies earlier
this year so he has real
talent.

Cubs Bomb Eagles
The Perry Cubs bombed
the Centerville Eagles in a
“B” league contest by a 20 to
' score. Perry jumped off in
the first inning with nine
runs and continued to pour it
on through the game. Ed
Porter carried the bit stick
for the Cubs with 5 RBl’s to
show for his 3 for 4, including
a home run Tim Albritton led
the Cubs in scoring with 5
runs and was 2 for 3. Other
Cubs with two hits were John
Adams, Randy Lumpkin and
Tom Stokes. The Cubbies
showed a real team victory
as nine different players
scored at least a run each.

the Tiger cats of Perry rode
the strong bat of Debro Hills
three run homer to a last
gasp, come-from-behind
victory over the Warner
Robins Giants as they
staggered home with a 17 to
16 win. The Tigers had been
outplayed and were down 16
to 12 in the last inning.
Darryl Collins began the 6th
with a walk but then was
thrown out attempting to
steal second. Doug King
followed with a hit, Eric
Lommis walked and Alex
McWhorter s hit got two runs
in and then Doyle Jr.
hit safely. This set the stage
for Debro Hill’s three run
blast which ended the game
with Perry one run up. Debro
has been a big man for Perry
this year and this game was
no exception as he had 3 for
4, including two homers.

Junior Demons
Rip Flyers 13-2
That often heard ex
pression in baseball “its one
of those days” was most
appropriate this past Sat. in
Ferry The Jr. league Perry
Demons lost to the Warner
Hobias Flyers 13 to 2 in five
innings. The Flyers did
everything right and the
Demons did everything
wrong - almost. The Demons
only managed two hits, one a
tremendous bases empty
hcmer by Edwin Allen. This
was a real hard shot deep in
the lefteenier power alley
and rolled to the fence as
Allen made it around easily.
Edwin was really beaming
over his super blast.
The only other Demon
safety was earned by Roy
“Boo" Mathis, a single.
The Flyers played good
defense, the pitcher put the
ball in the strike zone and
they ran their bases very
well. To “Boo’s” credit he
pitched the last two innings
for Perry allowing no runs,
S-0 3 and giving 2 hits. He
performed well in his
fireman’s role shutting the
Flyers off without any more
runs. Out of the ashes a new
Phoenix sometimes rises.
Perhaps the Perry Demons
learned a lesson in this awful
beating - namely to play
their best 100 percent of the
time and that every op
ponent is tough on the
ballfield and in life as well.
David Cook pitched a
super game for the Flyers
recording 4 S-0 and only 2
hits. Stanton, Harmon,
Bailey and Feczer had 2 hits
each for the Flyers and the
balance of their team each
had a hit. Flyer batting was
.500 (a hot mark) in this
game with a team total of 13
of 26. Os the Flyer hits 8 were
poppers, soft liners, or
seeing eye bouncers but at
least they hit the ball well
enough to force Perry’s poor
fielding display.
Junior Tigers
Nip Comets 9-7
In a “Beeg boy’s” game
between Jr. teams the Perry
Tigers saw their second
victory in a row take place as
they clipped the Comets !) to
7. Derrick Soloman pitched a
four hitter in winning for the
Tigers and Gil Smith was the
loser for the Comets
surrendering only three hits
but he issued thirteen walks.
The game turning point
came in the 4th with a 6-6
score and one out. Keevin
Griffin and Derrick Soloman
walked and then Milton
Walker creamed a pitch for a
three run homer. Walkers
shot was the big blow of the
game and the deciding
factor. Tigers Anthony
Grace and Derrick Soloman
aided the cause with a hit
each. Gil Smith led the
Tigers with 2 for 3.

and lisa Anderson had 6 hits
each to lead their Braves
team as several of their
teammates had from 3 to 5
hits each. The Brave team
displayed good hitting
punch. The winning Eagles

Walker with 4 for 4.
