The Perry Fire Dept,
answered a call to a truck
fire on Highway 341 on June
16. Damage was limited to
wiring. On the same night
four Ferry firemen went to
Hawkinsville to relieve
firemen there fighting blaze
of gas tanks at a truck stop.
On June 18, the local
department stood by at
George C. Nunn and Son
where a neon sign was
shorting out and about to
start a fire before it was
disconnected.
Chief Sirah Lawhorn
suggested that anyone who
has a neon sign not being
used have it disconnected
because of this danger; and
that those who have them in
use have the wiring in
spected occasionally to see
that it is in good condition.

their services are available.
To facilitate getting to a

offer these suggestions;
always call the central

your district number, which
is printed with your district
above; give your name and
detailed instructions for
reaching your property.
"For example," Burdine
said, ‘‘someone will call and
say his house is burning on 96
and hang up. Well, Highway

precious minutes are wasted
while firemen run around
trying to find the fire. Taking
a minute to give directions
could save your home,”
