Astros Beat Dots In
Ail- Perry Girls Game
Girls softball fans in Perry
recently witnessed a “B”
league softball game played
between our own two Perry
teams. The Astros beat the
Dots 19 to 10 as Astro Sandra
Cherry hit two home runs.
There is always a spirited
rivalry when sisters and
cousins play one another.
The competition was keen
and this was a good game.
ASTROS - Cassandra
Soloman 4 for 4, Terrylynn
Dixon 3 for 3, Angela Askew,
Sandra Cherry, Yeteria
Rebels Romp 9-5
Over Perry Wildcats
Even though Perry’s
Senior girls outhit the
Warner Robins Rebels 11 to 8
their softball game was won
by the Rebels 9 to 5. Perry
girls did their best but were
shutout after the second
inning.
Georgia Ragin took the
Wildcat loss. Delphine
Williams, Gwendolyn Rawls
and Georgia Ragin were the

Perry Jr. League Tigers Nip
Bonaire 2-1 In Extra Innings
In an extra inning ball
game our Perry Tigers
defeated the Bonaire Braves
2 to 1 in a Jr. League contest.
Panthers Score Late
To Destroy Braves
In a one sided "B” league
contest the Perry Panthers
destroyed the Warner
Robins Braves 25 to 5. The
Panthers had 12 big hits led
by Bennie Richardson,
Ronnie Askew and Horace
Marshall with 2 hits each.
Other Panthers with a base
hit were Lonnie Boone,
Terance Griffin, Sherman
Askew, Nick Felder, Reggy
Montgomery and Maurice
Marshall, Panther players in
the game were Cedric Little,
Bryan Walston, Glen
Marshall, William Alford
and Robert Morgan. Panther
pitcher was Bennie
Richardson who held the
Braves to 4 hits. The Pan
thers began slowly but
scored 6, 9 ad 7 runs in the
their last three innings.
The Braves broke on top
scoring one run in the bottom
of the first and the count
remained Braves 1 to 0 over

Triumph; Win 15-12
The Jr. league Pilots of
Warner Robins won their
first game of the year
making the Perry Demons
victims by a 15 to 12 score.

Wright led Perry with 3 for 4
numbering a solo homer,
triple and double for his
effort. Jess scored and drove
in 2 runs. Demon James
Richardson was 3 for 5, in
cluding a double as he scored
2 runs and batted in 1 run.

had 2 hits each - one a double
by Mathis. RBIs for Perry
were by Sam "Popcorn”
Johnson with 2 and David
Hickey, Edwin Allen, Kevin
Smith and Roy “Boo”
Mathis with 1 each.

was 1 to 1. Perry’s hero was
Maurice Daniel as he led off
the Bth by slugging a homer
sending the Tigers to a 2 to 1
lead. Maurice also pitched a
fine 3 hitter to pick up the
victory. Maurice struck out
14 in his route going job.
Another feature of the Tiger
attack was their 6 stolen
bases. Milton Walker led the
Tigers with 2 for 4 including
a triple. Kevin Griffin
contributed a hit to the
Tigers. Jeff Arnett was the
loser only giving 4 hits.
Sam Johnson, David
Hickey, Kevin Smith, Tyrone
Hickey and Dennis Little
each had a base rap.
Wayne Scott, Garrett Hickey
and Jeff Vogt were hitless.
Mike Barrentice, big Pilot
catcher had 4 of the Pilot hits
including a well hit homer.
Eleven Demons struck out.
One complement to the
Demons - they kept battling
back until the final out.

Angels Trim Tigers; Take First
The Jr. league had a battle
for first place between the
Warner Robins Angels and
Perry Tigers as the Angels
Perry B Gunners
Scalp Braves 15-4
The Perry Gunners
scalped the Warner Robins
Braves 15 to 4 in a “B”
league contest. Bruce
McGhee starred for Perry
with 2 triples and a homer.
Bruce showed a lot of power
as he drove in 4 runs.
Gunner players Greg Holt
and Ed Green scored 3 runs
each as Emerson Thomas
scored 2 runs. Holt had a
double. Green and Thomas
had 2 singles each. Other
Gunner players were Ed
Huckaby, Chipper Harrell,
Scott Hedrick, Sinclair
lister, Kurt Soloman, Justin
Mitchell, Allen Purser, Tim
Kendrick and Anthony
Rawls. tee Durham and
Bruce McGhee were the
Gunner pitchers striking out
13 batters enroute to their
victory.

Eagles Lose Slugfest
37-36 To Centerville
Our T-league Ferry Eagles
lost their first girls softball
game of the year by one run.
It was a real slugfest as the
Centerville Demons pulled
the game out by a 37 to 36
score. Perry’s Loran Nobles
and C’Ville’s Dawn Calhoun
each hit a homer for their
teams. Leading Eagle
batters were Loran Nobles,
Naomi Soloman, Katherine
Bryant, Hegina Jackson and
Pamela Walker with 4 hits
each. Perry girls with 3 hits
apiece were Ruby I>ane,
Clarissa Woodard and Debra
Rush, Beverly McGhee,
Vivian Mitchell and Veronda
Griffin had 2 hits each for
Perry. Alnita Lasseter
added a base rap for the
Eagles.

headed his team with 2 while

Hillson and Jeff Thomas
each had a base knock.
Daniel absorbed the loss for
Perry as their pitchers
struck out 9. Down 7 to 3 in
the bottom of the 7th our
Tigers were still trying as
they scored 2 runs but fell 2
short.
Eagles Blast Jets
24-10 In T League
The Perry Eagles blasted
the Warner Robins Jets 24-10
in a girls T-league softball
game. Our Perry little girls
have a real fine team in this 6
thru 8 age group. No Perry
girl had more than two at
bats with many getting 2 hits
such as Beverly McGhee,
Debra Rush, Ruby Lane,
Clarissa Woodard, Alnita
Lasseter, Loran Nobles,
Vivian Mitchell, Naomi
Soloman, Veronda Griffin,
Katherine Bryant, Patricia
Stokes, Regina Jackson. Joni
Hickey and Pam Walker had
a base hit each for Perry.
