became the bride of Donald
Otis Chapman on Saturday,
May 27, at the First
Christian Church. Athens
The Kev. William Ham
monds performed Uie double
ring ceremony at I o’clock
P.M.
Gerald Carper of Athens
presented an organ program
of prenuptial music.
Candelabra holding yellow
tapers entwined with ivy and
a large center arrangement
of white gladioli and yellow
chrysanthemums with
topiary trees of yellow and
white pompoms of each side
of the altar set the scene for
the ceremony.
The brides only attendant
was her sister-in-law Mrs.
Malcolm Evans of Atlanta
She wore a floor length dress
of coral polished cotton with
cap sleeves featuring an
empire bodice trimmed with
lace daisies. Her picture hat
was trimmed in matching
lace and she carried a
cascade of tropicana roses,
yellow and white daisies.
Mr, Chapman stood with
son as best man. Ushers
were Jerry Crawley and Roy
Moseman of Athens and
Edwin Pierce. Jr. of Perry,
The bride was escorted to
the altar by her brother
Malcolm Evans of Atlanta.
The bride wore a gown that
she designed of pale yellow
polyester dotted swiss lined
with yellow taffeta. It was
fashioned with a high
neckline of the dress and the
bolero were both trimmed
with Venice lace, a
detachable chapel train was
attached at the waist line.
She wore a pale yellow
picture hat and carried a
cascade bouquet of yellow
roses, stephanotis, and
Gardenias.
For her daughter's wed

ding Mrs. Evans chose to
wear a pale pink linen dress
with matching accessories.
Her corsage was of cym
biduim orchids. The brides
maternal grandmother, Mrs.
S. Norton Hill, wore a mint
green dress with matching
accessories, her corsage was
a white Glamalia.
Mrs. Chapman, the
groom's mother, wore a light
blue shantung dress with
matching accessories and a
corsage of cymbidium or
chids The groom s maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Jacob D.
Linton of Perry, was dressed
in lavender knit and wore a
white Glamalia corsage.
Mrs Evans entertained at
a champagne reception in
Hie parlors of the YWCA
following the ceremony. The
bride’s table overlaid with
yellow taffeta under white
lace, held the white
and yellow wedding cake
lopped with live yellow
and white daisies and
gypsophilia. The wedding
cake was served by Mrs.
Boyd Rider, sister of the
groom, and Mrs. Quinton
Lumpkin.
The refreshemnt table was
also yellow taffeta overlaid
with white lace centered
with an arrangement of
yellow roses, yellow and
white daisies. Serving punch
were Miss Joan Nunnally,
Mrs. Jimmy Lumpkin Mrs.
Roy Moseman, and Mrs.
Sam Williamson.
Miss Debra Chapman,
sister of the groom, kept the
bride's book.
When the couple left for a
wedding trip to New Orleans,
La., Mrs. Chapman was
wearing a two piece dress
made of white knit with navy
blue poka dot coat and navy
blue accessories. She wore a
corsage of Gardenias.
Mr. and Mrs. Chapman
will live in Athens.

A series of parties were
given for Miss Evans prior to
her marriage. A surprise
shower was given in Athens
by the Athens Credit

For September Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar W.
Huff, 11, announce the
engagement of their
daughter, Mary Ann Huff, to
Dr. George Ervin (Sonny)
Perdue, 111, son of Mr. and
Mrs. George E. Perdue. Jr.,
of Honaire, Georgia.
The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Oscar W. Nash of
Elizabethtown, Kentucky,
and the late Minnie Turley
Ruff of Long Beach,
Mississippi. In March, Miss
Huff completed a B.S. Ed.
degree in Speech Pathology
at the University of Georgia.
She was a member of the
Concert Dance Group, Phi
Mu social sorority, and Zeta
Phi Eta professional
sorority. Miss Ruff plans to
complete her master's
degree at The Ohio State
University.
Dr. Perdue is the grandson
of Mr. and Mrs. George E.
Womens Club. Miss Joan
Nunnally and Mrs. L. B.
Mackey gave a lingerie
shower.
Dr. John pohock en
tertained the young couple
and a number of their friends
with a cocktail party at his
home in Athens.

Miss Peake and Mr.
Clifton are 1972 graduates of
Ferry High School.
The wedding is planned for
2 p.m. on August 12 at the
Tharpe Memorial Baptist
Church. All friends of Uie
couple are invited.
Perdue, Sr., of Bonaire,

and Mrs T. C. Holt of Byron,
Georgia. He is a 1971
graduate of the University of
Georgia School of Veterinary
Medicine, where he was a
member of Kappa Sigma
social fraternity, president
of Omega Tau Sigma
veterinary fraternity,
president of the student
chapter American
Veterinary Medical
Association and a member of
Blue Key National Honor
Society and Who's Who in
American Colleges and
Universities. Dr. Perdue is
now serving a two-year term
in the Air Force as Base
Veterinarian at Lock
bourne Air Force Base,
Columbus Ohio.

honored Miss Evans with a
miscellaneous shower. She
was assisted by Miss
Evelynn Anne Adams and
Mrs. Alrie Adams.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
Pierce. Sr. entertained the
young couple with a can
dlelight supper at their home
in Perry.
Tea Honors
Wanda Jones
Miss Wanda Jones,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ashton Jones of Columbus,
formerly of Perry, was the
inspiration for a tea on June
28. Mrs. Milton Beckham
and Mrs. Malcolm Reese
were hostesses for the lovely
party at Mrs. Reese’s home
on Baker Street.
The home was beautifully
decorated throughout using
green and yellow as the color
scheme. The tea table,
covered with a white cloth to
the floor, was decorated with
an arrangement, of yellow
snapdragons and daisies in a
five branch candelabrum
with lighted yellow tapers.
The punch table, decorated
as was the tea table, held the
silver punch bowl.
