Drug Council Gets Grant Governor Carter an nounced Friday that the Middle Georgia Council on Drugs has been awarded a grant for $129,872.00 for the purpose of having the Council on Drugs become the pilot program for all state programs active against | OBITUARIES j Perryan’s Mother Dies Here Mrs. Ethel Norden Bailey, age 72, passed away Friday while visiting her daughter, Mrs. R. M. Pryor in Perry. She was a native of Mobile, Alabama, and resided there all of her life. She was a Catholic. The remains were flown to Radney Funeral Home in Mobile, where services were held Monday. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile. In addition to Mrs. Pryor, she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. P. D. Murray, Mobile, and Mrs. Stan Draughdrill, Savannah, Ga.; one son, Frank N. Bailey, Mobile; two sisters, Mrs. A. L. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Taylor and boys from Hammond, Louisiana, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Taylor from Warner Robins, all spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Taylor and Len. The funds come under Federal Title IV-A Grant from the Department of Family and Children Services and will be con tracted through the office of Drug Abuse, formerly known as the Georgia Narcotic Treatment Program, under Home had charge of local arrangements. Dismuke Infant Fredrica Lee Dismuke, infant daughter of Sgt. and Mrs. William F. Dismuke, stationed at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas, passed away Friday. Graveside Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Cemetery, Perry, with Rev. Robert Lee Porter of ficiating. Besides the parents she is survived by two sisters, Robin and Kelly; grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Lawhun, Warner Robins, and Mrs. Elsie Sherwood, Orlando, Florida. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Jackie Morrow and Robbie of Macon, Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Strange and Randy of Nashville, Georgia spent Sunday af ternoon with Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Overton and Danny. Friends are praying for Sam Ixe who is in the Coliseum Hospital in Macon. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Lanon of Miami, Florida spent several hours Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Cain and family and Mrs. Ann Triplett. Rev. and Mrs. Warren Landis and Nancy and Mrs. Landis’ mother, Mr. Evey of Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Morrow and Robbie of Macon spent Sunday with Rev. and Mrs. J. J. Morrow and family. Mr. and Mrs. James Langston and family spent last week in Pensecola, Florida with Mrs. Langston’s grandmother, Mrs. Tessie Blackburn. the direction of Dr. Peter Bourne. Funds will be allocated through the Bibb County Board of Com missioners locally. Under the grant, the Middle Georgia Council on Drugs will be responsible for coordinating activities against drug abuse throughout the seven (7) counties that comprise the Middle Georgia area. Dr. Robert Donner, President of the Council, said “the money would be used to increase the strength of our education programs against drug abuse; to conduct a survey of resources and needs related to drug abuse; and to establish methods for evaluating on-going programs and newly designed activities in the Middle Georgia area. Out of these activities should come productive, valid solutions, and recommendations for combating drug abuse that can be utilized throughout the state”. Mrs. Rose Marie Lingenfelser, administrator of the Council, told reporters “this is a tribute to an outstanding community. People saw a problem and everyone did his share to help control what has already become an im possible situation in less fortunate communities. Our total community responded Sogadera Club Enjoys Supper The Sogadera Club en joyed a covered dish supper on Wednesday, July 19 at the Perry Country Club as a summer social for all members and their families. PERRY, GEORGIA, THURSDAY, JULY 27, 1972 with funds and volunteer efforts. The County Com missioners and the City of Chairman for the event was Mrs. Gaile Andrews, with Mrs. Pat Thames and Mrs. Carol Talmadge ser ving on the committee with her. Macon have given strong support to the Council during the past 18 months. Three new members and their families attended. They were Mrs. Sandra Gray, Mrs. Doris Jacobs and Mrs. Nancy Bagley.
