Mr. Frank J. Rozar
Chairman Houston County
Commissioners
Dear Mr. Rozar
The newspaper article
appearing in The Daily Sun on
September 18, 1974, con
cerning the appointment of
Mr. Barry Jones to the
Houston County Hospital
Authority together with
quoted statements by Com
missioner McEver regarding
financial management of the
county hospitals has created
much concern to the un
dersigned hospital authority
members. The undersigned
I eel that they can no longer
serve effectively on the
Houston County Hospital
Authority and therefore
submit our resignations ef
fective immediately. We are
too concerned to stand by and
see further deteriation of the
county hospitals and division
among the Medical Staff tor
reasons which we did not
create and beyond our
authority to control.
The financial management
ol the county hospitals as
mentioned in referenced
newspaper article is sum
marized from the undersigned
viewpoint as follows: This
Hospital Authority has never
asked lor one dollar of tax
payers' money to linance the
over $2,743,000 expansion and
renovations ol the Warner
Robins hospital. The authority
did request and received your
unanimous support required
in order to issue Revenue
Bonds in the amount of
$2,500,000. The Hospital
Authority has been paying
principal and interest on these
bonds since 1969. The Hospital
Authority presented a
proposal to the commissioners
to re-issue the 1969 bonds for
an extended period in order to
complete Phase II of the
expansion and to provide a
lacilily lor Psychiatric
treatment. Your offer to assist
the Hospital Authority on a
new $900,000 bond issue rather
than re-issue the 1969 bonds
will save considerable interest
and prevent extending the 1969
bond issue.
The Hospital Authority
recently used the remaining
$450,000 set aside from the
hospital operating revenue as
programmed to pay against
Phase II construction. The
withdrawal of these funds did
reduce our savings as an
ticipated. The majority of the
money was set aside when the
daily number of patients was
considerably below today’s
census Monthly financial

5 COUNTY LINE 1
U NEWS I
~a BY DOT WILSON 1
The County Line Young
Adult class, ably assisted by
the other classes, are
spearheading a fund drive to
build a social hall at the
church. This hall is badly
needed as a meeting place for
the various activities which
are now being held in the
Sunday School roonjs. Mr. Jud
Sinyard kicked off the drive by
donating the profits from the
recent softball tournament in
which Jud’s Pump Service
team won first place. Others
participating in the kick-off
were Leßoy Hudson and
Royce Branncn. Everyone
will be in a Irenzy of activity
lor the next few weeks as they
have a bake sale, car wash
and other fund raising efforts.
Let’s get behind our young
people and give them a
helping hand! Alright?
The community was sad
dened by the passing of Mr.
Mint Sinyard, Mr. Sinyard
was a long lime member of
County Line Church and will
be missed by everyone. Our
sympathy is entended to his
widow, “Aunt Mattie”
Sinyard, and his many other
relatives and friends.
Mr and Mrs. Russell Jones,
Kathy and Chris Jones and
Mr and Mrs. Dennis Jones
and Sandy Jones attended a
Junes lamily reunion at High
Falls this weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Wilson and Elaine Wilson
entertained with a cook-out
Saturday night. The occasion
was in celebration of Mr.
Wilson’s birthday. The guest
list included Mr. and Mrs.
Allen Wilson, Shane Wilson,
Sherree Wilson, Mr. and Mrs.
Jerry Wilson, Jerry G. Wilson
of Warner Robins, Mrs. Jerry
Savage of Centerville, Mrs.
Kenneth Wilson and Bruce
Wilson of Bonaire, Mrs.
Maxine Wellman, Ann and
Nicky Wellman of Hawkin- i
HOUSTON HOME JOURNAL THURS., SEPT. 24, 1974,
reports for the past three
month periods reflect net
earnings as follows: June
$32,895.46, July $31,951.27 and
August $30,607.51. These three
months have traditionally
been lower due to vacations of
potential patients and
members of the Medical Staff.
The hospital income is
steadily increasing over last
year and from all indicators
will continue especially with
the additional new doctors
arriving in the county.
In view of above summary
and the financial indictment
by Commissioner McEver is
considered to reflect upon the
Financial Committee which
meets two or three nights a
month to review the finances
of the hospitals. The Finance
Committee is composed of Mr.
Billy Beckham, Mr. Sherrill
Stafford and Mr. Jim Stubbs
who recently resigned rather
than continue to serve under
conditions created by another
Authority member. These
individuals are considered to
be well qualified to perform
Iheir tasks as evidenced by
cited facts.
The appointment of Dr.
Spears on the Authority by Dr,
McEver immediately began to
divide the Authority and
members of the Medical Staff.

This action alone has done, in
our judgment, irreparable
harm to the county hospitals
and could possibly adversely
affect patient care of our
citizens. The appointment by
Commissioner McEver of Mr.
Barry Jones, a relative
newcomer to the county will
obviously create further
diverseness regardless of how
well his intentions may be to
serve on the hospital
authority.
We shall always remain
concerned about the future of
the county hospitals and their
service to the citizens of the
county.
In closing may we say that
your complete support of our
hospitals is greatly ap
preciated and we sincerely
regret to take this action
which we believe in the long
run will serve to be in the best
interest of the citizens in the
county and future operation of
the hospitals.
