Robyn Gray
Teen Os The Week
WHS Senior Provides
Yearbook ' Extra Touch"
By Joe Hiett
Eighteen year old Robyn
Gray, a senior at Westfield
High, likes to do things well.
As Art Editor of the Vespidae,
the WHS Annual, Robyn gives
the yearbook that little “extra
touch”. As a student, she
enjoys embroidering clothing
and has embroidered jeans
and shirts of fellow students.
Mrs. Anne Sinyard, on behalf of the ladies, presents Harold Hackney with a
check for S2OO as proceeds from a cake bake sale. Hackney is President of the
Crossroads of Georgia CB Radio Club. The club meets each first and third
Thursday evening of every month at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Fellowship
Hall.

Robyn is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. W.G. Gray, Jr. The
Grays live at 1902 Northside
Road. Robyn has one brother-
Mike, 22. All the Grays attend
Perry United Methodist
Church.
The pretty senior is
currently serving as Vice
President of the WHS Senior
Class. She has been a member
PAGE 3-B
of the Westfield Civinettes for
three years. She admits to
having “tried to play
basketball” as a freshman,
but found her sports “niche” a
year later, leading sports
teams on as a varsity football
and basketball cheerleader.
Robyn confesses that her
favorite class is Mrs.
Harrison’s Government class,
a class which seems to appear
regularly in the Westfield
Teens of the Week selections.
Asked why she thinks so much
of the class, Robyn answered,
“It is creative and makes me '
think.”
This week’s “Teen” is
already accepted at Mercer
University and will begin
studies there this fall. Robyn
is somewhat indecisive about
what she will major in, but
adds, “I’d like to study
psychology, take some art
classes, maybe journalism.”
Robyn’s future plans are
more concrete. She would like
to be involved in the fashion
world, as either a designer,
beatique owner, or model.
This year, when the WHS
Senior class spent two weeks
in career training in fields of
their choice, Robyn was
employed as an assistant
interior decorator at a Macon
Street furniture store.
One home that Miss Gray
actually had “on the job
training” in was the residence
of Jerry Davis on Houston
Lake. She calls the place
“really beautiful with a great
view.”
Leading a busy life seems to
be the trend among young
adults these days, and Robyn
is no exception. She has
several hobbies, including
swimming, tennis, sketching,
and embroidery. The em
broidery has led to stitch
designs on several of her own
outfits, as well as those of
classmates. The WHS senior
enjoys “co-ordinating
clothing”, and does it well.
As Art Editor of the
Vespidae, Robyn has provided
the unique little extras. She
last year designed the
decidedly original cover of the
yearbook. Last year the an
nual won First place in
competition at Jekyll Island.
This year it placed third.
As a senior at Westfield,
Robyn reflected on her years
spent there. She hesitated to
select an “outstanding”
memory and confessed
“there’s been so many good
things, I don’t know which to
pick”. She said she hates to
leave, in away, but realizes
there are new things ahead for
her... all to be done well.
Perry DQ
Operator
Honored
Brazilla Hoover, franchise
operator of the Dairy Queen-
Brazier store on U.S. Highway
41 S. in Perry, was recently
presented the Quality-Purity
Award by American Dairy
Queen Corporation, a sub
sidiary of International Dairy
Queen, Inc. (IDA).
The Quality-Purity Award
signifies that Ms. Hoover’s
Dairy Queen-Brazier store has
achieved and maintained a
superior rating in all quality
and purity inspections con
ducted by representatives of
American Dairy Queen
Corporation.
To qualify for this special
recognition, Ms. Hoover’s
store scored 90 percent or
better on an inspection
covering more than 12
categories, including general
appearance of the store,
sanitation procedures and
customer service. The
Quality-Purity Award is part
of Dairy Queen’s revitalized
program directed at
recognizing the basics of good
store operations, among
which are quality, quantity,
service and cleanliness.
Gordon Huber, IDQ’s
executive vice president of
operations, explained why the
company is re-emphasizing
the program known as Q2SC.
“When a trend of increasing
sales is interrupted, even
momentarily, we all have a
tendency to review and re
evaluate the fundamentals
which are involved. Our
primary goal, of course,
. remains satisfying customers
* with our products and our
service systems. But we have
■ learned that there are four
basic areas that customers
g use to decide where they will
' spend their money, and they
3 are quality, quantity, service
J and cleanliness. These areas
have been and will continue to
, be essential elements of
, successful operation in all
> Dairy Queen and Dairy
Queen-Brazier stores across
1 the nation.”
The Quality-Purity Award
will remain in Ms. Hoover’s
store as long as her out
standing rating is maintained
in following periodic in
spections.
