Annual Scout Show
Perry Scout Units Cop
Awards At "Expo 75"
Ferryans have much to be
proud of in their scout units.
Just recently in Macon at
Central City Park, Troop %
carried away a first place
berth and Troop 596 a second
place one, in a highly con
tested field of 51 troops from a
24 county council area where
troops competed against each
other for prizes and money in
Central Georgia Council’s
second annual scout show or
Expo 75. Bob Brooks, Norm
Owens and Tom Griffin and
scouts displayed their hard
earnings to an attentive public
of thousands. In another area,
Walter Arnold and his boys
wrestled with a bucking horse
in which they soon discovered
a few could stay mounted for
more than a minute and a half.
Both scouts and leaders
seemed to not only be oc
cupied with their booths but
were also a captive audience
for Six Flags’ famed “Sugar
Bear”.
Scout shows are not the only
places where Perry’s troops
excel They also do well in
other areas such as district
camporees. Troop 96, spon
sored by the Civitan, carried
away the President’s Trophy
Award from the May Spring
Camporee which is the most
coveted award that any troop
