R Williams of Oglethorpe and
the late Mr and Mrs. Clarence
M Nelson of Savannah
Miss Nelson is a graduate of
Jenkins High School. She was
graduated summa cum laude
from Georgia Southern
College with a B.S. in Early
Childhood Education She was
president of the Association of
Childhood Education,
member of Who's Who in
American Universities and
Colleges, Phi Kappa Phi
Honor Society, Gamma Beta
Phi Honor Society, Kappa
Della Epsilon, and Kappa
Delta Pi
She was selected Out
standing Student in Education
by Phi Delta Kappa, being the
first woman student to receive
this honor The bride-elect is
working toward her master’s
degree in Early Childhood
Education at the University ol
Georgia and is employed by
the Oglethorpe County Board
of Education.

Her fiance is the grandson of
Mrs, Jack Lucas and the late
Homer Fordharn of Cochran
and Mrs. Howard Watson and
the late Mr Watson of Mon
trose
Mr Watson is a graduate of
Warner Robins High School;
Middle Georgia College with
an Associate of Arts degree;
Georgia Southern College with
a B.S. in Business Ad
ministration and Master’s
certificate in Elementary
Education. He received a
Master's degree in Business
Administration from the
University of Utah and did
further study at Ball State
University. He is past
president of the Society for the
Advancement of
Management, a member of
Phi Beta Lambda, Student
Association of Educators, and
was selected to represent
G.S.C. as “Mr Future
Business Leader of America”.
He served in the US. Air
Force with the Tenth Tactical
Reconnaissance Wing in
England He is presently
employed by the Houston
County Board of Education as
a faculty member at Tucker
Elementary School in Perry.
The wedding is planned for
Saturday, August 16, 1975, at
Grace United Methodist
Church in Savannah at 4 P.M

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
Carrington Patterson, of
Greenwood, South Carolina,
announce the engagement of
their daughter, Sharon Marcia
Patterson, to Alvin James
McGlohn, Jr, son of Mr. and
Mrs Alvin James McGlohn of
Newport News, Virginia. The
Pattersons are formerly of
Perry.
Miss Patterson recently
graduated from Eton College

Miss Janet Lynn Stewart of
Clinchfield and Charles Keith
Seamon of Perry were united
in marriage April 12, 1975, at
the Houston Lake Baptist
Church.
Parents of the bride are Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph L. Stewart of
Clinchfield and the groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth G. Seamon of Perry.
The Rev. J.J. Morrow
performed the double ring
ceremony at five o’clock
before a setting of candelabra
holding white tapers and a
center arrangement of white
snapdragons and peach
where she received a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Elementary
Education. She also attended
the University of Georgia and
is a member of Zeta Tau
Alpha sorority.
Mr McGlohn is a senior at
Elon College where he is a
Biology major. He is a
member of Kappa Psi Nu
fraternity.
An August 9 wedding is
planned.

Miss Vickie Hayes of Perry
served the bride as maid of
honor. The bridesmaids were
Miss Joan Weik, Miss Kay
Shugart, and Miss Rhonda
Birkhofer all of Perry. The
attendants wore gowns of
peach organza designed with
scoop necklines and puff
1 sleeves. They wore wide
1 brimmed hats. The maid of
I honor carried a miniature of
I the bride’s bouquet and the
. bridesmaids carried nosegays
of yellow glamellias.
Little Miss Tina Black of
' Perry, cousin of the bride, was
1 flower girl and she wore a
1 gown styled like those of the
1 honor attendents and she
f carried a basket of assorted
f petals. Todd Moncrief of
Tallahassee, Fla., cousin of
the groom, was ring bearer.
Given in marriage by her
* father, the bride wore a gown
I of candlelight taffeta and
1 chiffon trimmed in alencon
i lace, seed pearls and sequins,
i It was fashioned with a high
, neckline and long chiffon
sleeves ending in lace cuffs.
Her cathedral length veil was
trimmed with lace and was
attached to a lace cap. She
carried a bouquet of yellow
sweetheart roses, white
daisies, purple statice, baby’s
breath, aqua and peach
carnations.
For her daughter’s wedding,
Mrs. Stewart chose a gown of
mint green knit with long
chiffon sleeves and a yellow
rosebud corsage. The groom’s
mother wore a beige gown
with a floral background and
trimmed in beige lace. She
wore a white rosebud corsage.
Immediately following the
ceremony, reception was
given by the bride’s parents in
the fellowship hall of the
church Assisting in serving
were Mrs Judy Tucker of
Kathleen, Miss Evelyn Mc-
Dowell, Miss Carol Wood,
Miss Lorie Colder and Miss
Marcia Weldy of Perry. Miss
Michele Stewart, sister of the
bride, kept the bride’s book.
When the couple left for a
wedding trip to Panama City,
Ha., Mrs. Seamon was
wearing a peach knit pantsuit
with matching floral jacket,
white accessories and yellow
rosebud corsage. Mr. and
Mrs. Seamon are residing at
the Crossroads Trailer Park,
Perry.
PARTIES
Miss Stewart was feted with
a number of parties before her
marriage. Miss Joan Weik,
Miss Lorie Colder and Miss
Julie Rabun were hostesses
for a miscellaneous shower on
March 10 at Miss Weik’s home
on Elizabeth Avenue. Among
the many lovely gifts was a
toaster, a gift from the
hostesses.
On March 12, Miss Kay
Shugart and Miss Rhonda
Birkhofer were hostesses for a
miscellaneous shower held in
the Community Room of the
Eastgate Bank of Perry. The
honoree was presented a hand
mixer in a wall case.
Aunts of the bride, Mrs.
James Laster, Mrs. J.R.
McDowell, and Mrs. Perkins
Jenkins, entertained for Miss
Stewart at a miscellaneous
shower at the home of Mrs.
Laster. Guests were aunts and
grandmothers of the bride and
groom. The hostesses’ gift was
a laundry basket filled with
gadgets and groceries.

Program

Hey, Kids! There’s going to
be a reading program this
summer at the Perry-Houston
County Public Library called
the “Fife and Drum Club”.
Know why? Because this is the
year America has her two
hundredth birthday. Learn
about fifes, drums, the
beginning of our country and
all sorts of other interesting
things by joining the summer
reading club sponsored by the
Houston County Library
System and the Georgia
Department of Education.
There are no dues, and a
red, white, and blue booklet
for record keeping will be
given each person. The club
will be open to everyone in the
first through the eighth
grades. Certificates will be
awarded each member
reading ten or more books,
and gold stars will be
presented those reading 25 or
more.
Come join your friends at
the library this summer by
signing up right away. The
club will end on August 2, and
there will be a Film Party and
presentation of the cer
tificates. The library is open
from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
Monday through Saturday.
