Robins To Be Host Agency
Houston Wage Survey
Scheduled This Month
A Locality Wage Survey of
the Houston County area is
scheduled during June to
determine wage rates for
Federal Non-Appropriated
Fund (NAF) employees at
Robins Air Force Base and the
Dublin Veterans Ad
ministration Hospital.
Robins AFB, as the largest
Federal employer in the area,
will be host agency for the
S survey. The purpose is to
ascertain local wage rates
paid for positions that are
comparable to NAF jobs such
as Base Exchange, Base
QUESTION: What do you think is Perry's
most urgent need at the present time?
Restaurant, Officers’ and
NCO clubs, and the Veterans
Canteen Service.
Conducting the survey will
be a local wage survey
committee composed of
representatives from Robins
AFBPersonnel management,
the Base Exchange and Base
Restaurant, the VA hospital,
and the American Federation
of Government Employees
(AFGE), Local 987.
These annual surveys were
provided for by Public Law 92-
392, signed in August, 1972,
which extended to NAF ac
tivities a method of
establishing pay scales in line
with that for regular federal
Wage Board or Blue Collar
employees.

During the survey,
representatives of the local
wage committee will visit
participating businesses to
obtain samples of rates paid
by private employers in the
wholesale, retail, service and
recreation industries for work
similar to the selected NAF
survey jobs. Each person
participating in the survey is
pledged to keep such in
formation confidential.
The collected wage data will
be tabulated and forwarded to
the Department of Defense

Washington for evaluation. If
a change in wage rates is
warranted, that agency will
issue new pay schedules for
NAF employees in this area,
which possibly will become
effective in August, 1975,
official said.
Under this wage fixing
system, the Federal Govern
ment policy is to pay wages
that approximate local going
rates for comparable jobs.
This policy is considered as
the most equitable because it
minimises the possibility of
unfair competition with local
businesses and at the same
time assures Federal em
ployees fair rates of pay.

MJC Grads
To Hear Nunn
U.S. Senator Sam Nunn will
address more than 200 Macon
Junior College graduates
during the college’s sixth
annual commencement on
Sunday, June 8. The
ceremonies will begin at 8
P.M. at the Grand Opera
House in Macon.
Senator Nunn was elected to
Congress in 1972 and at 36 is
one of the youngest members
of the U.S. Senate. A native of
Perry, he attended Georgia
Tech and was graduated with
honors from Emory
University School 'of Law in
1962.
Following law school, he
worked for a year as legal
counsel to the House Armed
Services Committee, before
returning to Perry to enter
private practice.
From 1968 to 1972, Nunn
represented Houston County
in the Georgia General
Assembly. He is a charter

organization he helped
establish in 1970 to provide
financial support for the
college.

Operations Committee, Ar

Business. He is chairman of
the Armed Services Sub
committee on Manpower and
Personnel and the Govern
ment Operations Sub
committee on Oversight
Procedures and is a member
of the Government Operations
Subcommittee on In
vestigations.
Senator Nunn is married to
the former Colleen Ann
O’Brien of Olympia,
Washington. They have two
children, Mary Michelle, 8,
and Samuel Brian, 5.
