Story Hour Planned
Today At Perry Library
There will be a Story Hour at the Perry-Houston
County Public Library at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday,
June 5. The program will continue each Thursday
during June and July. The members of the
Beltista Club are sponsoring the Story Hours, and
all children from 5-9 years of age are urged to
come.
Young people may still join the Vacation
Reading Club. Certificates will be awarded to
those reading ten or more books. The club will end
on August 2, and there will be a Film Party and
presentation of the certificates.

Mr Whelchel and the late

Williams, all of Cordele. Mr
Williams is a graduate of
Crisp County High School. He
attended Abraham Baldwin
Agricultural College and is a
graduate of the University of
Georgia He is also a past
president of the Perry
Jaycees.
The wedding will lie July 12
at the First Baptist Church of
Perry.

attending Hillsborough Junior

February, 1976 He will then

"Right Way To Retire"
As a part of their purpose to
develop a creative, supportive
fellowship the United
Methodist Women had a
program Monday afternoon at
the church on Right and
Wrong Ways to Retire. Mrs
WE Marshall, co-ordinator
of Supportive Community for
the Perry UMW., presented
this program at the June
meeting.
The retirement period of life
should not mean giving up
service in the church, the
U M W, and the community,
and Mrs. Martin Van Asdalan
of Per^
Mrs. Dianne Riggs served
as her sister’s matron of honor
and only attendant James
McKinley of Perry, uncle of
the groom, stood with him as
best man.
The bride's parents en
tertained at a buffet dinner at
their home immediately
following the ceremony.
After a wedding trip to
Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Mr
and Mrs. Abeny are residing
in Perry.

The piano students of Mrs.
Julius Turner entertained
their parents and friends with
a piano recital on Sunday
afternoon, May 25, at Mrs,
Turner’s home. The students
assisted Mrs. Turner in ser
ving refreshments to the
guests.

life, develop hobbies, get
belter acquainted with neigh
bors and friends, and give
more service to church and
community, the speaker
emphasized

weekend at Sopohoppy and

Mrs. Macy Skinner visited
Capt. and Mrs, Harvey
NeSmith, Jr., and family in
Valdosta last weekend.

with them for a visit of several

week at Lake Rabun Beach
Park in North Georgia. They
will be hiking on the Ap
palachian Trail.

are Mrs. Harvey NeSmith,
Sr., of Perry and the late Mr.
NeSmith.

Evans of Thomson announce
the birth of a son, Brandon Lee
Evans. Arriving May 22 at the
Houston County Hospital,
Warner Robins, Brandon
weighed seven pounds, one
ounce.
He is the grandson of Mrs.
J.W. Horton of Bonaire and
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert A. Evans
of Perry.

Summer Dawn, bom May 1,
