Perryan Appointed To
Graduate School Post
A former resident of
Perry, Dr. James F.
i Jlagain, has been named
Acting Dean of the
Graduate School at
Colorado State University
of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Dr. Rag in is the son of Mr.
and Mts. James A. Ragin
and brother of Herman
Ragin, all of Perry.
Appointment of Dr.
James F. Ragin as acting
dean of the Graduate
School was announced last

The appointment was
effective on Sept. 1.
After eight years of
teaching high school
biology in Houston, Tex.,
Ragin came to CSU for
advanced study in 1966 and
received his Ph.D. degree
in March of 1970.
He joined the CSU staff
in 1967 as assistant to the
vice president for
university affairs and
served in that capacity
until he was named
assistant dean.
Starting in early
January of 1971, Ragin
spent a leave from CSU of
nearly 24 months working
in East Pakistan and
Ethiopia.
He went to Dacca (now
Bangladesh) in East
Pakistan to work at the
Institute of International
Education where he helped
write the science
curriculum for high
schools of that country.
His assignment in
Ethiopia was with the
Trans Century Cor
poration, a company in
volved in employing
teachers for Ethipoian
schools. There, he taught
and helped develop a
curriculum for the new
Alemaya College, a
teacher training school.
Georgia born, Ragin
earned a B.S. degree from
Dr. James Ragin
Johnson C. Smith
University, an A.Y.I.
certificate in science
curriculum development
at Harvard University and
an M S. degree from Texas
Southern University.
He has served as a

ORDINANCE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PERRY;
Section One: That the following
named streets shall be paved: (1)
Grant Street, (2) Horton Street,
(3) Pierce Street, (4) Oldfield
Lane (from Lucille Avenue to
Horton Street)
Section Two: That the cost of
said paving shall be as follows:
The property adjoining said
streets shall be assessed on a one
third basis with the City of Perry
paying one third of the costs, and
one third of the costs assessed
against each property owner
abutting on either side of said
streets. Said assessments, as an
option of the property owner, shall
be payable over a term of five (5)
years, the first payment due on or
before the 31st day of March, 1976,
and annually thereafter, said
amounts bearing interest at the
rate of six (6 percent) percent per
annum Provided further that in
the event of failure to pay an
installment in any tax year, the
remaining balances due shall
become due and payable in full
and fi fas shall issue as in the case
of unpaid taxes.
Section Three: Provided,
further, under the power and
authority as set forth in the
Charter of the City of Perry, this
paving assessment shall be
collectible under the provisions

Association of Graduate
Deans and serves on the
Task Committee of the
Western Association of
Graduate Schools.
Section Four: Provided, fur

Section 69 403, this Resolution
shall be published once a week tor
three consecutive weeks in The
Houston Home Journal and if the
owners of a majority of the lineal
feet of frontage of the lands
abutting on said street shall not in
fifteen (15) days after the last
publication of this Resolution file
with the Clerk of the City of Perry
their protest in writing of such
improvements, the governing
authority of the City of Perry shall
have the power to cause said
improvements to be made, and to
contract therefor, and to make
assessments and fix liens as
provided for herein.
Section Five: The effective date
of this Resolution is the 7th day of
October, 1975.

will hold its 44th all breed
£ dog show and twenty-third
£ obedience trial on Sunday,
£ Oct. 12, on the grounds of
the Warner Robins
Recreat on Dept.
1,497 dogs are entered
for a total of 1,504 entries,
■j: Over 100 breeds or
£ varieties are represented.
£ Included in this total are 76
£ dogs entered for obedience
£ competition. Judging will
begin promptly at 9 A M.
;j: and continue throughout
£ the day with judging of
£ variety groups and best in
£ show to begin at 3 P.M.
£ This fall's show chair
£ man Is Gene Brumbaugh
£ of Perry who is assisted by
L.C. Bradley of Macon.
