Cooking From The Arts
Some days ago the Perry Art Club
had a display at the Perry-Houston
County Library. I found that not only
are these ladies talented in the art
world, but are most talented in the art
of cooking.
Ruth Purser was most gracious to
share with us a few of the favorite
recipes of these artists, and today I
have this treat for you in our Cook’s
Nook.
I have three of these recipes to
share with you: a Chicken Casserole,
a Chicken and Rice dish, and a Cherry
Crunch. The chicken dishes are most
welcome as I continue to have calls
for chicken dishes, especially
casseroles. I’ve eaten the Cherry
Crunch and it’s easy and a delicious
dessert.
CHICKEN CASSEROLE
1 large frying size chicken, cooked
until tender
Reserve broth from the chicken
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can mushroom soup
Vi pint sour cream
1 (8-ounce) package egg noodles
Remove chicken from bones and
cut up. Boil noodles in broth until
done. Mix soups and sour cream, add
to chicken, then add this mixture to
noodles. Pour into greased baking
dish. Top with buttered bread
crumbs. Bake in preheated 350 degree
oven for about 40 to 45 minutes.
(This Chicken Casserole comes
from Ruby Agerton.)
