Dear People of Houston
County:
This letter is to all the
people who decide they no
longer want their pets,
mainly dogs. If you no
longer want these animals
please don't bring them to
the country and dump
them out. It you think they
have a chance ot being
taken in, you're wrong
1 want to tell you what
happens. The dogs that
don't starve or freeze to
death when winter comes
usually gather together in
packs and become wild
and vicious. They finally
reach the point ot at
tacking anything they
think they can kill and eat
Unlike the people who
live in the city limits, we do
not have garbage pick up
service so we have to bag it

up and dispose of our own
garbage. The dog problem
has gotten so bad I have to
keep my bag ot garbage in
the house until I can take it
oft. If I put it outside over
night I can expect to pick
garbage up all around the
yard where the dogs have
gotten the bag and strewn
it all around.
Most of the peoples'
excuse for putting their
dogs out Is they haven't the
heart to dispose of the
animals themselves, but
what you actually do is the
cruelest, most inhumane
thing of all when you dump
them out in the country.
Not only that, you force
people like me, a woman,
to have to keep a loaded
gun at my kitchen door and
to always take a loaded
gun with me if 1 go out of
♦he yard. That Is just in
case a pack ot wild dogs
decide to attack me and,
believe me, they do attack
people also. One woman
has already been attacked
and there is absolutely no
excuse for this.
Now the real reason that
prompts me to write this
letter is that last weekend I
lost a beautiful half grown
Angora kitten to one of
these dogs I'm not sure
why they didn't eat her;
maybe they were scared
oft by something, but when
I found her halt ot one of
her paws had been chewed
oft, one ot her hind legs
was mangled, chewed up,
and broken in a couple ot
places Plus she had been
bitten and chewed in
several places all along
her body. The worst part is
she was still alive when I
found her, and it was
Sunday and both vets were
out of town; so we did what
had to be done. My
husband took her out and
shot her himself and
buried her. Needless to
say, I'm very grieved over
the entire situation.
To end my letter is to
thank all of our heartless,
cruel people who have no
sympathy for your*
animals, other peoples'
animals, or other people.
