were united in marriage
May 28, 1976 at eight
o'clock in the evening. The
Rev. Mobley Cross per
formed the double ring
ceremony on the lake front
patio of the home of the
groom's parents on
Houston Lake.
The bride is the daughter
of Mrs. E.R. Roberts of
Oglethorpe and James P.
Estes of Hapeville and the
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. John Chester
Edwards of Perry.
The couple spoke their
vows before an
arrangement of pastel
mums and baskets of
palms. A pair of can
dlelabra held pastel
tapers. The wrought iron
balcony rail was decorated

The couple was attended
by the groom's sister, Mrs.
Nelda Matthews, and the
groom's father, Jr.
Chester Edwards.
The matron of honor
wore a floor length gown of
satin jersey in apricot
shades. She carried a
bouquet of apricot pixie
carnations complemented
by green gyphophelia and
white daisies with
cascading ribbons.
The bride was lovely in
her dress of old fashioned
cream gauge linen with
rows of wide lace at the
waist, around the collar,
and surrounding the full
skirt. She wore a wide br
im cream lace woven hat
with band of matching
flowers. She carried a
bouquet of eternal sun
roses, cream daisies, blue
corn flowers with German
statis.
The groom's mother was
attired In a jersey floor
length dress of pastel
green and pink pattern.
She wore a pink cym
bidium orchid corsage.
A reception was held
following the ceremony at
the Edwards home.
The bride's table,
covered with a lace cloth,
held the tiered wedding
cake topped with orchids
and pastel daisies
surrounding the columns
of the cake. Sliver can
delabra with
arrangements of orange,
yellow, and white daisies
decorated the table. Miss
Kathy Stafford, Mrs.
Nelda Matthews and Mrs.
Jerry Davis, Jr. assisted
with the entertaining.
When the couple left for
a wedding trip to Sea
Island, Mrs. Edwards was
wearing a navy jump suit
with red accessories. They
are residing at 1111 Cater
Avenue, Pdrry.
A shower- tea was given
for the bride-elect on May
16 at the home of Mrs.
Jerry Davis, Jr. En
tertaining with Mrs. Davis
were Mrs. Wiliam
Roughton, Mrs. Mae
Stanley, .Mrs. Tom
Chapman and Mrs. Harold
Fesmire. The hostesses'
gift was an engraved brass
door knocker.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwards
were host at a family
dinner on Thursday
evening at the New Perry
Hotel. Attending were Mrs.
Ayers and her son, Chris,
Mr. Edwards and Mrs.
Nelda Matthews and son,
Matt. They later joined
friends at the Houston
Lake Country Club.
Community Calendar
The International City Women for Christ are spon
soring a Prayer Buffet Breakfast Saturday, July 3, at
9;00 a.m. at the Ramada Inn in Warner Robins. Mrs.
Bobbie Bag ley of Carrollton will be the guest speaker.
There will be a $2.25 fee for the breakfast. Women of all
faiths are invited to attend.

Marie Dennis to Mr. David
Marshal Luckie, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Marshall Elton
Luckie of Fort Valley.
Miss Dennis is the
granddaughter of Mrs.
Jessie Hobgood Malcolm
and the late Mr. Walton
Smith Malcolm of Macon,
Georgia, and of Mrs.
Maggie Newberry Dennis
and the late Mr. Edward
Mike Dennis of Macon,
Georgia.
The bride-elect is a 1976
graduate of Peach County
High School. There she
was voted a Senior
Superlative and was a
varsity cheerleader for
four years. Donna also
served as treasurer and
president for the Coed-Y
Club and as vice-president
for the Science Club. She
was selected to The Society
of Distinguished American
High School Students and
won a scholarship to
Huntington College in
Alabama for her par
ticipation in the Georgia
Junior Miss Pageant. Miss
Dennis is employed with
the Sally Stanley Dance
Academy. She plans to
attend Macon Junior
College where she will
study Physical Education.
Mr. Luckie is the
grandson of the late Mr.
and Mrs. George Gordon
McDaniel of Fort Valley,
Georgia and of Mr. and
Mrs. John Alex Luckie of
Marshallville, Georgia.
The groom-elect is a 1966
graduate of Fort Valley
High School. He attended
Auburn University and
Georgia Southern College
where he received a BBA
degree in accounting.
David is a member of
Kappa Sigma Fraternity
where he held the offices of
vice-president, secretary,
and assistant treasurer.
He also was a member of
the Interfraternity Council
where he held the offices of
vice pr esident and rush
chairman. Mr. Luckie was
a member of the IFC "3.0"
Club, IFC Judicial Council,
Student Appeals Board,
Men's Governing Council,
Southern Singers, and the
Philharmonic Choir. He
was the recipient of the
Kappa Sigma National
Scholarship Leadership
Award, Kappa Sigma
Certificate of Merit,
Georgia Southern College
Faculty's Senior Lead
ership-Service Award,
and the award for the
composition of the Georgia
Southern "fight song".
David was named to the
1970 edition of Who's Who
in American Colleges and
Universities, and he was
named the 1969 Fraternity
Man of the Year. He is
employed with Mauldin
and Jenkins, CPAs, in
Macon, Georgia.
The wedding is planned
for August 14, 1976, at
seven o'clock in the
evening at the First
Baptist Church in Fort
Valley, Georgia.
College Capers
Miss Paula Logue was
named to the dean's list for
the spring quarter at
Middle Georgia College,
Cochran with a 4 point
average. Miss Logue,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Charlie Logue of Perry,
received the associate
degree in commercial art
with honors at the June
Commencement exercises.

and Washington. Over 300
descendants and guests
attended the gala event in
the International Ball
Room. Mrs. Collins, Miss
Lewis and her sisters, Mrs.
Ricks and Mrs. Hudson,
were among the ap
proximately 30
