We have had our country's birthday
party, and I wish for each of you,
continued happiness. Everyone en
joyed the Bicentennial events, and we
are proud to be Americans. Let us
continue to celebrate in every way to
make this a better and more un
derstanding land in which to live.
For our Nook today I have selected
some cookie recipes for your cooking
files. These are so good to serve with
the summer ice cream which many of
you will be making.
Our first cookie is a Viennese
Cookie, delightful with ice cream. The
next one, Galettes Suisse’s, is another
good one to serve and this one is
covered with shredded almonds. The
last one is a request number. Frances
Thames asked for this one, it was in
the Nook last summer and here it is
again for Frances, and any of you who
might like to try it. Heavenly Clouds,
is the name of this one; an easy one to
make, and so good!
VIENNESE COOKIES
Cream very light and smooth the
following;
7 ounces of butter
2 ounces powdered sugar
Vi teaspoon real vanilla
Now add sifted together:
4 ounces self-rising flour
4 ounces plain flour

circles. Bake at 375 degrees for 20
minutes or less. Sandwich when cold
