Thanks
With deepest gratitude
we extend this word of
thanks for the many kind
acts of sympathy ex
pressed by thoughtful
friends and neighbors
during the loss of our
husband and father, Felton
Cook. The cards, flowers,
visits, food and donations
made to the Freewill
Baptist Church in his name
have meant much to us.
These expressions will
always be remembered.

Methodist Church.
"My favorite activity
has always been
cheerleading, I guess. It
takes up time, and gives
you a sense of helping a
team." Ever since a
certain fellow has played
on the Hornets grid squad,
Julie has attempted to be a
cheerleader.
She was a cheerleader
for basketball as a
sophomore, cheered from
the stands as a junior, and
returned to the sidelines as
a senior to captain the
WHS football
cheerleaders.
Her classmates held this
week's Teen of the Week in
high esteem, and in the
11th grade she and Ken

FIBERS
There are six good
reasons to choose man
made fibers over natural
fibers in your carpets or
rugs. One, man-made
fibers are much more
durable, and do not wear
as easily as natural fibers.
Two, synthetic fibers are
virtually moth-proof, nor
do they fall prey to any of
the other insects that
destroy fibers such as
wool. Three, man-made
fibers are non-allergenic.
People who are susceptible
to allergies are not af
fected by synthetic fibers.
Four, man-made fibers
resist soiling, and are
easily maintained.
Cleaning is not an arduous
task. Five, dyeing of man
made fibers is easier, thus
the colors last longer, and
there is a wider variety.
Six, the texture of man
made fibers Is durable,
and as pleasing as any
natural fiber.
Insist on the best. See us
today for a wide selection
of carpets and rugs of the
finest quality man-made
fibers.

straight years and was
club treasurer as a senior.
The lovely lass sported a
B plus average overall in
high school, but posted A's
her final nine months. Her
favorite class was Mrs.
Willis Harrison's English.
An apt student, she
received a Biology award a
couple of years ago.
Middle Georgia College
in Cochran will be Julie's
home this fall. Right now
she plans to major In Art.
A practical sort, she gave
up another idea- that of
teaching- when she
realized many people
teach only a few years
before seeking other
careers.
In addition to other
hobbies of playing tennis
and bowling, Julie began
painting at age 12 or 13.
Using Bicycle Safety Tips
Can Lower Accident Rate
Kids do the darndest, and
often the most dangerous
things. As summer gets into
full swing, parents in the
South might consider
discussing with their children
the most frequent causes of
summer accidents and what
safety rules can contribute to
a safer schoolbreak.
The Insurance Information
Institute points out that a
government analysis of
emergency room admissions
last summer showed that the
most frequent cause of injury
to children was bicycie
accidents. Playing baseball,
using screws and nails,
playing football, playground
equipment mishaps, and
playing basketball followeo m
order as the most frequent
causes of injury.

Under the watchful eye of
father Lewis Tedders, who
is an accomplished
sculptor, Julie developed
into a talented portrayer of
still life.
Moving to Perry from
Albany six years ago, Julie
continued to develop her
skill with the brush. "Still
life is my favorite," she
admitted, but asserted, "I
want to master one phase
then move to another and
master it too. My Dad
gives me a lot of help, and
it is appreciated. My
mother has a good eye
too."
"If I'm good enough,
when I don't know yet, I'd
like to sell some of my
paintings one day. But I
have a long way to go. It'll
take work, I know."
Somehow one gets the
feeling Julie Ann Tedders
may just reach her goal.
She is pretty, talented, and
persistent. A mighty tough
combination.
Obviously, all accidents
cannot be prevented, and not
all of the situations young
people get themselves into
can be anticipated. However,
the Institute suggests that
before recreational
equipment is used, make sure
it is safe and in good repair.
You can also cut down on the
misuse of equipment and
reckless activity by helping
young children learn the
proper techniques, rules and
etiquette of the games they
play. Above all, make sure
children understand some of
the hazards involved in their
activities and what safety
rules should be followed.
The number one cause of
injury to young people during
the summertime is bicycling.
Last summer, more than
4,000 children between the
ages of 5 and 1 4 were taken
to hospital emergency rooms
following bicycle accidents.
During just July and August,
about 7,000 people of all ages
were injured seriously enough
in bicycling accidents to
require emergency room
treatment.
Here are some bicycle
safety tips from the Insurance
Information Institute:
- Be sure the bicycle is
sturdy and in good working

Especially check the braking
system.
- Every bicycle should be
equipped with lights and
reflectors for safe driving at
night or in low light. It is a
good idea for the rider to
wear reflector tapes and
bright clothing.
~ Always ride going in the
same direction as the traffic,
unless as in some states, the 'ft,
law requires otherwise. *
Riding with the traffic J

- Choose your route
carefully. Try to avoid
thoroughfares heavily
travelled by automobiles.
