We have been told, although it has not been officially announced, that we can
expect a price increase on lawn mowers in 1977 - probably $75 to SIOO per riding
mower - but, worse yet - we have been told, although it has not been officially
announced, that all warrantees on 1977 mowers are going to drop to 90 days - So
now is the time to buy while you can get a new Snapper for less money than ever
again. -- Plus a one year guarantee which you may never be able to get again.

Miss Yvonne Coene,
visiting in Perry with Mr.
and Mrs. Julius Turner, Is
enjoying her trip abroad.
Miss Coene lives in
Haarlem, Holland and
teaches school in Am
sterdam.
Julius and Ouida Turner
are part of the American
Hosts program, which
each year assists
European visitors to learn
more about America.
Ouida first read about the
Host program three years
ago In The Houston Home
Journal.
In Europe this May, the
Turner's met with Yvonne,
learning she was to be
their guests here in
Georgia. Yvonne came to
the States on June 28, and
from New York airport
flew to Florida, then
Alabama for stays there.
Perry, Georgia was the
next stop on her agenda.
Miss Coene, a cheerfully
pretty young woman, flew
Into Macon's Lewis B.
Wilson Airport, and on the
ride to Perry, the Turners
took her peach-picking on
the Gunn farm. Yvonne is
happy with her in
troduction to fresh
peaches, having received
only the canned peach in
Holland.
The Dutch schoolteacher
"has been exposed to
normal life here”, even as
far as helping snap beans
and shell peas. Another
pair of food items in
troduced to Yvonne have
been corn on the cob, and
that Southern tradition
grits.
She exclaims, "There
are so many types of
breakfasts here! The first
time I had grits, eggs, and
baked ham with syrup was
strange. In Holland, all we
ever have for breakfast Is
slices of bread with butter
and slices of meat." She
further volunteered that
peanut butter is called
"peanut cheese" in
Holland.
One aspect of life In
Perry that Yvonne loves is
the tradition of covered
dish suppers. Ouida

Turner's Sunday School

Yvonne's honor. "It Is very
pleasant. They come here,
each bringing food. It is a
good way. Everyone feels
they have done
something."
Another feature of
American life was rather
disliked by the Dutch
"schoolmarm". That is so
many commercials on
television. In Holland only
places for such ads are

Otherwise programs run
uninterrupted.
"Our papers are more
politically oriented than
your papers," she adds.
"We knew about Jimmy
Carter before I left on June
28, following his string of
wins, coming from
nowhere." The Dutch
visitor toured Westville
with the Turner family and
came back through a little
village called Plains.
"The people in Perry are
- so nice. They arc easy to
talk to, more so than in my
country, where all are
more reserved. Here
- things are less formal,"
Yvonne says.
She was born in In
donesia, and has lived in
Holland since 1947. Yvonne
