Friends of Rev. James
A. Ivey, former pastor of
the First Baptist Church,
will be Interested to know
that he had open heart
surgery recently and Is a
patient In Georgia Baptist
Hospital in Atlanta. His
daughter, Mrs. Waldo
Woodcock of Decatur, Ga.,
has been with Mr. Ivey
during his Illness. His
wife, Mrs. Katie Ivey, has
been very 111, also, and is
recovering at their home in
Milledgeville, Ga.
A.S. John R. Gibson has
completed his two years
service In the U.S. Navy on
the U.S.S. Little Rock and
is at home with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Alvin B. Gibson. He is now
a member of the U.S. Navy
Reserves.

Tucker Sets
Yule Program
The Tucker PTC will
hold its December meeting
Thursday, December 9 at
7:30 p.m. at Tucker
Elementary School. The
meeting will open with
Kevin Monroe of the Perry
United Methodist Church
delivering the devotional
message, followed by Cub
Scout Pack 216 performing
the flag ceremony. The
business portion of the
meeting will Include a
report on how the PTC
money has been used over
the past years up to the
present.
The second grade
classes at Tucker will have
the spotlight for the en
tertainment portion of the
program. These students
will provide their audience
a Christmas spirit that
only children can generate
at this very special time of
year. First on the
program, one group of
students will delight the
audience with their
various acting roles in a
short play entitled “The
Tree Angel".
Following the play
another group of students
will then perform an In
terlude of Christmas
carols done by ringing
bells. A group of students
from all of the second
grade classes will then
present Christmas
selections; both traditional
carols and recently
published material. In
conclusion, the entire
second grade will par
ticipate in a muslc-with
slides presentation of
favorite carols and
Christmas songs.
Jaycees
Selling
Yule Trees
The Perry Jaycees
announced that their
Christmas tree sales lot
opened last weekend
beside Badcock Home
Furnishings on Ball Street.
Sales are reported brisk,
with proceeds going to the
Jaycees and their
charitable projects.
The Jaycees also have
announced plans to collect
canned goods and other
donations for the needy
families in the area. The
donations will be accepted
December 11, beginning at
9:00 a.m. at the Christmas
Tree lot.
They urge everyone
possible to make a
donation so people's
Christmas season will be a
little brighter.

her recent surgery.

The family of
Susan Thomas
returned Sunday from a
visit of several weeks with
her son, Gordon Parkin
son, !n Jackson, Tenn. and
with friends in Riceville,
Tenn. Mrs. T.B. Isbell of
Riceville came home with
Mrs. Parkinson for a visit,
Mrs. Parkinson moved to
Perry from Tennessee
three months ago and is
located in an apartment
house on Sunset Ave. near
the home of her son, Don
Parkinson.
In preparation for the
exciting Christmas
program presented by the
students, the PTC fur
nished the second grade
classes with the necessary
filmstrip. Along with the
teachers of these classes,
Miss Trena Sanders, Mrs.
Harriet Harrell and Mrs.
Marla Bourne, two other
ladies were very helpful
with the props for the play.

Jim Bourne and the ac
companists are Mr. Juan
Thompson and Mrs.

The PTC issues a special

share this special time
