Annual EMC Meeting
Houston 4-H’ers Place
High In Flint Contest
Eighteen individual
entries and seven
exhibits from county
chapters made up the 4-H
Electric Exhibit, a yearly
highlight of the Annual
Meeting of Flint Electric
Membership Cor
poration, held last week
in Reynolds. 4-H chapters
in counties served by
Flint EMC are eligible to
compete, as well as four
individual exhibitors per
county who must be
membeVs of these
chapters. Houston County
was represented at the
meeting.
According to Barbara
Parks, one of Flint's
representatives who
works with the County
Extension Agents on the
project, the FEMC
Electric Exhibit Is now in
its eleventh year. 'The
purpose of the contest is
to create an awareness
among young people of
the part electricity plays
in their daily lives, and
the contest themes this
year are in line with the
emphasis we place on
conservation, efficiency
and environmental
concerns,' said Mrs.
Parks.
The county theme,
'Electricity and Your
Environment,' included
such topics as con
servation of resources
and energy, food and
fiber production, and
production of electric
power. The theme for
individual boys and girls
exhibits, 'Use Electricity
Wisely,' produced entries
that dealt with topics
such as Insulation Equals
Energy Conservation,
Save Energy with Small
Appliances, Flourescent
Lighting Saves Elec
tricity, Ten Places to
save on Your Electric
Bill, as well as many
other educational
exhibits.

Mrs. D.A. Forehand
Hi Neighbor,
Yes, we're back home
now. Colorado was
beautiful but It surely
wasn't home. We really
had a great time, though.
My sister, Kandie, and I
took Matthew and Jacob
to the circus. It was
fantastic! We enjoyed
Gunther Gable Williams,
the famous animal
trainer, and Jacob was
especially enthralled by
all the clowns. David and
my brother-in-law,
Ralph, did a lot of
mountain hiking. One of
the days they were out
they saw about sixty elk
and didn't even have a
camera with them!
Traveling out there and
back we saw a lot of this
country of ours, some
fantastically beautiful,
some barren-looking, but
the sight we all agreed
was the greatest we saw
was Saturday evening
around 6:30 when we
drove into Houston
County!
I would like to thank
Janie Huff for keeping
you up on all the news
