Miss Jean Ellen King
and Jesse Earl Brown
were united in marriage
at 7:30 Friday evening,
August 11, 1978 in an
impressive ceremony at
the Memorial Heights
Baptist Church.
The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Paul B. King of Perry.
The groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Grady
Brown of Perry.
Elder Gordon
Buchanan performed the
double ring ceremony
before the altar setting of
palms and candelabra
holding white tapers. A
large arrangement of
white gladioli and
greenery completed the
church decorations.
Mrs. Wallace Dean,
organist, presented a
program of wedding
music and accompanied
Tony Hutcheson as he
sang, "Love Me Tender".
The bride was given in
marriage by her father.
She wore the gown made
by her mother and worn
by her sister at her
wedding. The gown was
of bridal satin with an
overlay of venise lace
featuring a high crown
collar and cape of lace.
The body lined dress had
a ruffle skirt and long set
in sleeves gathered to
wide buttoned cuffs
edged in lace. The chapel
length train of lace fell
from a cap of lace petals
and seedpearls with a
bluster of tulle. She
carried the Bible that her
mother and sister carried
in their weddings decked
with gladioli, daisies and
cattelya orchid.
Attending the bride as
matron of honor was her
sister, Mrs. Van Adkins
of Perry. The bridesmaid
was Mrs. Jim Cawthon of
Perry. They were
dressed alike in apricot
polyester organza gowns
with capelets, shirred

Mr. and Mrs. Brown
cummerbunds and
flounced flared skirts.
They wore white picture
hats with matching
apricot streamers and
carried German statious
with apricot carnations
and daisies.
Little Miss Kim King
was flower girl and she
wore a flower length
dress of white chiffon
with tiny yellow eyelet
trim and carried a basket
filled with yellow flower
petals.
The groom chose his
father, Grady Brown, as
best man. The groom
smen were Jim King of
Perry, brother of the
bride, and Tony Hut
cheson of Perry. Ken
Sikes of Perry was ring
bearer.
The bride's mother
chose a beige floor length
gown of soft knit with a
stand up collar and
empire waist and an
orchid corsage. The
groom's mother was
attired in a bronze A-line
gown of knit with a
poncho of chiffon In
coordinating colors and
an orchid corsage.
Mr. and Mrs, King
entertained at a reception
at the Perry Country Club
following the ceremony
at the church. Mrs. Irene
Burden catered the
reception.
The refreshment tables
were laid with white
cloths and an overlay of
net. The four tiered
wedding cake was a white
creation highlighted with
apricot roses, and topped
with a minature bride
and groom, Mrs. Barbara
Crozier and Miss Lynn
Sizemore cut and served
the wedding cake. Miss
June Rabun and Ms. Gall
Merryman served punch

bowl. Mrs. Frankie
Carroll invited the guests
to register in the bride's
registry.
When the couple left for
a wedding trip, the bride
was wearing a red and
white seersucker sun
dress, matching ac
cessories and the orchid
lifted from her bouquet.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown will
reside at Moss Oaks
Trailer Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown
entertained the wedding
party for the King-Brown
wedding at a rehearsal
dinner at the Coffee Cup
Restaurant. Tables were
covered with white cloths
and centered with flower
arrangements carrying
out the wedding colors.
Individual place cards
marked the places for the
twenty one guests. They
were served a delicious
salad course with
dessert.

Church, Mullin, S.C.
The bride is the

Mrs. George F. Ganey,
Jr. of Mullins, formerly
of Perry. The groom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Preston D. Pipkin, Sr. of
Durham, N.C.
The Rev. Ganey per
formed the double ring
ceremony for which Mrs.
W.H. Poole and Miss
Terri Lynn Ganey, sister
of the bride, were
musicians.
Mr. Pipkin stood with
his son as best man. The

from the Perry United
Methodist Church, sang
Sunday evening at the
Hazelhurst United
Methodist Church. Those
attending were Mr. and
Mrs. Joe McNutt, Mr.
and Mrs. Phil Ballard,

VISTA Volunteer In
Service for America, is
the domestic part of the
Peace Corp. Miss Lewis
will be working with low
income families in this
federally sponsored one
year program in the
United States. She will be
an advisor helping to
increase communications
with utility companies
and influencing Public
Service Companies in
regarding utility rates as
they effect the low in
come people.
Miss Lewis is a
graduate of Georgia
College at Milledgeville
and has been employed
for two years by the
Houston County Board of
Education.
