notified in advance of the
week for judging so they
can clean up and pick up.
This month, though, the
honors go to Westfield,
and it may be that other
school and student groups
just didn’t get the word.
But the CCC is sure they
will be ready in January
and is looking for some
really clean campuses
the next time around.

Holiday On Ice Is Coming
Another year is upon us
and I have high hopes for
the decade of the eighties.
If it is as good as the
seventies I might become
euphoric. In 1980 I plan to
see at least 52 more
movies and to read at
least 52rnore books. I will
be giving you my views of
the best and worst books
and movies of 1979 in a
few weeks.
One of the highlights of
January will be the
arrival of Holiday On Ice
at the Macon Coliseum.
The show runs January
23rd through 27th and
tickets are already on
sale. They are priced at
$7.00, $6.00 and $5.00. A
feature of opening night
will be a discount of $2.00
Afghan Winner
Michael Stewart was the winner of the afghan
given by the Perry Business Women’s Club at
their annual Christmas Party held Thursday,
December 13 at the New Perry Hotel. The lovely
afghan was crocheted by Mrs. Gladys Culpep
per, member of the Club. Michael is pictured
here with his mother, Mrs. Betty Stewart.

for the public and later
shows will have a special
feature of discounts for
children 12 and under. I
have always loved this
ice skating spectacular
and this year’s show
should be just as good as
ever.
The holiday mail
brought me two special
letters. One was a
Christmas card from
Delta Burke, the young
actress that I mentioned
in this column recently in
connection with her role
in John Jakes “The
Seekers”. She is now in
Oregon filming “The
Chisholms” which will be
a series on CBS starting
in late January or early
February. Also featured
in that series will be
Robert Preston,

I also got an
autographed picture
from Blair Brown the
actress whose parents
live in Fort Valley. Blair
just finished the movie
“Altered States”. The
movie was written by
Paddy Cheyevsky and
was directed by Ken
Russell. It should be out
in the spring. Blair has
just started a new movie
with Paul Simon and
Joan Hackett.
During the upcoming
year I will be keeping you
informed about Blair and
Delta’s careers. I will
also be keeping you up to
date on Genelle Jennings
and her book Into The
Jaws Os * Politics.
Recently in the news
there have been stories
about the latest
escapades of “The
Peanut Brigade” and it is
just like Genelle writes in
her book. I was in
Hawkinsville last week
and everyone is reading it
there.
Coming to our theater
in the next few weeks are
some great movies. “10”
is coming. Also “And
Justice For All”,
“Sleeping Beauty”, "The
Onion Field” and
“Apocalypse Now’’.
That’s a lot of good movie
product. Movies do seem
to be better than ever and
people are going to them
in record numbfers. We
are lucky too that here in
the south they are still
relatively cheap en
tertainment. In New
York and LA tickets for
“Star Trek-The Movie”
reached as high as $6.00
per ticket.
Have a Happy New
Year!
