Mrs. Marjorie Hart
ness Duffell, 61, died
Saturday, December 29,
1979 in a Peach County
hospital. Services were
held at 2 p.m. Sunday in
Hayneville Baptist
Church. Burial was in the
church cemetery. The
Rev. Marvin Taylor
officiated.
Mrs. Duffell, a native of
Macon, had lived in
Perry for 45 years. She
was a member of
Hayneville Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her
husband, Jack W. Duffell
Sr. of Perry; two
daughters, Mrs. David
Davis of Perry and Ms.
Elizabeth Brooks of
Macon; three sons, David
A. Duffell and Jack W.
Duffell, both of Perry,
and William H. “Bill”
Duffell of East Brun
swick, N.J.; and 11
grandchildren.
Watson-Hunt Funeral
Home of Perry had
charge of arrangements.
Stewart
Mrs. Dorothy Lee
Wilkes Stewart, 57, of
Route 1, Kings Chapel
Road, Perry, died
Thursday, December 27,
1979 in a Houston County
Hospital. Services were
held at 11 a.m. Saturday
December 29 in the
chapel of McCullough
Funeral Home. Burial
was in Forkson Cemetery
in Soperton. The Rev.
Eddie Carter officiated.
Mrs. Stewart, a native
of Vidalia, lived in
Bonaire 20 years. She
was a retired employee
of the Robins Air Force
Base Food Exchange and
was a member of Elberta
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her
husband, Johnnie Clifford
Stewart of Perry; five
sons. Johnnie W. Stewart
of Warner Robins, Jeff M.
Stewart of Beauford,
S.C., Jerry A. Stewart
and J. Raymond Stewart,
both of Bonaire, J. Larry
Stewart of Macon; her

Wilkes of Soperton and
Mrs. Della Mae Thorpe of
Lyons; a brother, Grover
C. Wilkes of Savannah;
and 10 grandchildren.
Talton
Henry Cullen Talton,
72, died Sunday, Dec. 23
1979 in a Houston
County hospital. Services
were held at 4 p.m.
Tuesday, December 25 in
Bonaire United Methodist
Church. Burial was in
Bonaire Cemetery.
Mr. Talton, a lifelong
resident of Houston
County, was a retired
merchant and farmer. He
was a member of the
Houston County Board of
Education for 26 years
and was a member of the
board of directors of the
Commerce National
Bank. He was also a
member of Bonaire
United Methodist Church,
where he was a member
of the administrative
board and was chairman
of the Pastor-Parish
Relations Committee and
the Finance Committee.
Survivors include his
wife, Mrs. Lois Ammons
Talton of Bonaire; two
sons, Cullen Talton Jr.
and Harold Talton, both
of Bonaire; a daughter,
Mrs. Mary T. Sims of
Kennesaw, Ga.; eight
grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.

Funeral Home had
charge of arrangements.
Baird
Memorial services for
J. Elliott Baird, a native
of Grovania, were held
Friday. December 28, at
the Seal Beach, Calif.,
Community Church. He
died Tuesday. December
26 after being
hospitalized for a heart
condition for three weeks.
His body was cremated,
in accordance with his
wishes.
Mr. Baird, who had
retired in 1965 after 33
years with Sears,
Roebuck & Company in
Macon, Ga. and in Los
Angeles, Calif., had
served earlier as a
telegrapher for the C&S
Bank in Macon.
Surviving is his widow,
the former Maybeth
Harrison, of Grovania,
who resides at 1841
Golden Rain Road, Apt.
21-D, Seal Beach, Calif.
90740. They had been
married 58 years. Mr.
Baird was the last sur
viving child of Robert
Lyman and Sally Rentz
Baird of Grovania. He
was predeceased by his
sisters, Miss Irene Baird,
Helechewa, Ky., and
Mrs. Carlton Pierce of
Perry, and his brothers,
Robert Thomas and
Lyman Rentz Baird, both
of Macon.
Memorial gifts may be
made to the Heart
Association.
Mr. Baird’s former
neighbors on Hillyer
Avenue in Macon will
recall that building
electrical devices was his
hobby. Neighbors
gathered in hsi home in
1930 to watch Baird’s
homemade TV receiver
pick up an experimental
television transmission
from Washington D.C.,
and produce a postage
stamp-size picture which
a viewer could observe
through a small eyepiece.
Among those present was
his 13-year-old nephew,
Robert Thomas Baird,
now a retired Army
brigadier general living
in Tucker, Ga. Other
surviving nieces and
nephews are Mrs. Jack
Murrah, Decatur; Mrs.
Billy Bledsoe, Perry; and
Lyman R. Baird, Jr., of
Marietta.
Riizza
Castaldo Guy Ruzza,
91, died Thurs., Dec. 29,
at his residence. The
funeral mass was
celebrated at 10 a.m.
Saturday, December 29,
1979 in St. Raphael
Catholic Church in
Livingston, N.J. Burial
was in Gates of Heaven
'Cemetery in Livingston.
Mr. Ruzza, a native of
Italy, lived in Perry 15

years, having moved
from Livingston, N.J. He
was a farmer and cat
tleman. He was a
Catholic.
Survivors include two
sons, Francis A. Ruzza of
Perry and Henry Ruzza
of Caslifornia.

Ogles
Robert Joel Ogles, 48,
died Sunday, December
23, 1979 in an Atlanta
hospital. Services were
held at 4 p.m. Monday in
Hayneville Baptist
Church. Burial was in the
church cemetery. The
Rev. Marvin Taylor
officiated.
Mr. Ogles, a native of
Chambers, Ala., lived in
Perry since 1951, having
moved from Alabama.
He was a carpenter and
was a member of
Hayneville Baptist
Church.
Survivors include a
daughter, Ms. Marcia
Weldy of Perry; his
mother, Mrs. Gladys
Ogles of Perry; a sister,
Mrs. William Spence of
Surfside Beach, S.C.; and
a grandchild.
The family requests
that flowers be omitted
and contributions be
made to the American
Cancer Society.

charge of arrangements.
Quinn
Frankie Quinn Jr., of
Cordele, formerly of
Perry, died Sunday, Dec.
23, 1979 in an Albany
hospital. Services were
held at 2 p.m. Monday in
the chapel of Hughes and
Wright Funeral Home.
Additional services were
held at 11 a.m. Wed
nesday in Evergreen
Baptist Church in
Evergreen, Ala., with
burial in Evergreen.
Frankie was a native of
Mobile, Ala. He was a
10th grade student at
Crisp County High
School.
Survivors include his
mother and stepfather,
Mr. and Mrs. William
Wilson of Cordele; two
half-sisters, Mrs. Glenna
Q. Bishop of lowa and
Miss Becky Quinn of
Arizona; three step
sisters, Mrs. Terrie
Lindsey of Fairhope,
Ala., Miss Tammie
Wilson of Troy, Ala., and
Miss Christie Wilson of
Cordele; and a step
brother, Bill Wilson of
Cordele.
Wilder
Mrs. Lydia Lillian
Wilder, 88, died Monday,
Dec. 24, 1979 in a Fort
Valley Nursing Home.
Graveside services were
held at 2 p.m. Wed
nesday, in Oaklawn
Cemetery. The Rev.
Horace Chapman and
Rev. Carroll Crosby
officiated.
Mrs. Wilder, widow of
the late S.E. Wilder was a
lifelong resident of Peach
County and was a
member of Fort Valley
United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three
daughters, Mrs. Inez
Ellis of Fort Valley, Mrs.
Wilson Martin of Perry
and Mrs. H.A. Talton of
Kathleen, a son, Harold
Wilder of Fort Pierce,
Fla.; three sisters Mrs.
Leila Sandefur and Mrs.
B.A. Young,both of Fort
Valley, and Mrs. Thelma
Mitchell of Dallas, Ga.; a
brother A.L. Hartley of
Rome: 11 grandchildren,
23 great grandchildren
and 2 great great grand
children.

age 48, died December 20,

County, he resided in
Perry most of his life. Mr.

and a Baptist.

Hospital.

Cemetery.
