County Loses Federal Jobs
The Houston County
Commission was in
formed Tuesday that
some 74 Federally funded

CETA training jobs in the
county have been wiped
out by a cut in the funds.
The Comprehensive
Employment Training
Act (CETA) funding has
been cut by some $343,458
less than last year’s
budget of $1,020,660. The
cutback will effect jobs in
the county as well as all
the municipalities in
Houston County.
Commissioners will
meet with county
department heads as
soon as possible to
determine which jobs will
be eliminated.
In other action,
Commissioners heard
from Kathleen residents
who appeared to com
plain about the lack of

Brewer of Perry an
nounce the birth of a son,
John Warren Brewer
born December 6, 1979 at
the Houston County
Hospital. He weighed
nine pounds, fourteen
ounces. He joins sisters,
Elizabeth and Jessica in
the Brewer home.
Grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. E.M.
Williamson and Mr. and
Mrs. Wallace Brewer, all
of Perry.
Great grandparents
are Mrs. Eva Williamson
of Marshallville and Mr.
and Mrs. Omar Young of
Macon.
Stone
Mr. and Mrs. Allen P.
Stone, Jr. of Warner
Robins, proudly an
nounce the birth of twins,
Amanda Paige Stone and
Aaron Michael Stone,
born January 4, 1980 at
the Coliseum Park
Hospital in Macon. Mrs.
Stone is the former
Abigail Peterson.
The grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Allen P.
Stone, Sr. of Perry and
Mr. and Mrs. J.S.
Beeland of Warner
Robins and the late
Johnny F. Peterson, Sr.
fire hydrants in the Piney
Grove Road area. They
pointed out that a house
burned down on Piney
Grove recently because
the water tanker had to
leave the scene to refill.
Course For Parents Set
Registration has now
begun for the Parent
Effectiveness Course
being offered here in
Perry beginning Jan. 15th
through Feb. 14. Due to
the limited number of
spaces available, those
interested must register
prior to Jan. 15th. The
class will meet every
Tuesday night from 7 to 9
p.m. in the Attorney
Office Building at 909 Ball
Street.

designed for those who
want to learn to become
more effective parents,”
says Judy Lilley who will
be the instructor for the

program for 1980 fire
hydrants will be installed
in the Piney Grove area.
The Commissioners also
Masters Degree in Social
Work and is currently a
Clinical Social Worker
with Dr. Curt Holmes,
PhD Psychologist, in
Warner Robins.
The topics to be
covered during the 5-
week class include: Why
children misbehave,
Learning to be a good
listener, Communicating
your feelings to your
children, Helping your
children learn to problem
solve, Learning by logical
consequences rather than
punishment, and The use
of the family meeting.
