Jaycees receive awards
at end of first club year

Several Perry Jaycee members
received awards for their hard work
in the first year of the club. Awards
were given at the first Perry Jaycee
recognition banquet May 21 at Ray
Whitney's house.
Lee Jones, the immediate past
president, received the Jaycee of the
Year award, voted on by the mem
bers. Karen Jones received the
Keyman award.
"That award is one of the highest
awards you can get from the chap
ter," Lee Jones said.

Police investigate theft
at station on Nunn Blvd.
Perry police arc investigating a
theft reported at the Jet Station on
Sam Nunn Boulevard Tuesday
evening. SBSO was reported stolen,
sometime between 11 p.m. Satur
day and 6 p.m. Tuesday.
A 1989 Dodge Dakota Sport
pickup truck was recovered
Wednesday, even though it had not
yet been listed as stolen. Augusta
police Tuesday arrested a subject
driving the truck, which had a Mark
Powell Chryslcr-Plymoulh-Dodge
lag. They contacted the Perry Po
lice Department, who got in touch
with the dealership and learned the
car was missing.
Expensive radios were reported
stolen from two cars in Perry dur
ing the week. A 51,046 radio was
taken on Carroll Street Tuesday and
one valued at $687 w as stolen on
Hodges Boulevard Wednesday
night.
Police recovered a stolen 1979
blue Honda Accord, Georgia license
BAW-639, parked at 1-75 and Mar
shallville Highway Tuesday
evening.
An 585 forgery was reported at
Davis Oil Co. Tuesday.
A license tag was reported stolen
from a vehicle at Hamby Chevrolet
on Iffic Road Sunday.
Police investigated a domestic
dispute at an apartment on Smith
Studio's 28th recital is
Saturday and Sunday

Stanley Studio's 28th annual dance
recital.
The show will be held on
Saturday, June 3 at 7 p.m., and
Sunday, June 4 at 2:30 p.m. and
will be held at the Perry Annex

Non-Jaycee members receiving
recognition were Linda Jones, Ray
Whitney, and Kay Hlavaly. The
Warner Robins Jaycees were also
given a plague for their help in or
ganizing the Perry chapter, Jones
said.
Larry Home, a member of the
Warner Robins chapter, received a
plaque for his work in establishing
the Perry club.
Jones said four honorary mem
bers were chosen for the club. They
are Linda Jones, Ray Whitney, Kay
Hlavaty and Larry Home.

It is unlawful for any stale-li
censed alcohol vendor in Perry to
give out free beer or alcohol on
Sunday, according to the Official
Georgia Code.
The clarification by City Attor
ney David Walker was requested by
the Perry City Council after the
city was approached with the ques
tion of whether bars, hotels,
restaurants, and private clubs could
give out beer on Sundays.
Lakes firemen free boy from magnolia

It may be awhile before nine
ycar-old Bobby Cnim climbs an
other tree. At least, another
magnolia tree.
Bobby, of 333 Lake Joy Road,
was stuck for over an hour Thurs
day afternoon before being freed by
the Lakes Fire Department.
While playing in a giant
magnolia, Bobby got his leg
wedged in between two limbs and
couldn't get it loose.
"I guess he'd been there a good
half hour before we found him,"
said his mother, Rose Crum.
It took another 35 to 40 minutes
to extricate Bobby after the fire de-

and Regulations of the State of

any day or at any lime when the
sale of same is prohibited by law."
