PLGA plans scramble
for next meeting date

June 13 was meeting night lor
the members of the Perry Ladies
Golf Association, and there were a
total of 36 members present.
Judy Poss, Andrea Lassiter, and
Frances Dcibcg were welcomed as
guests, and Gcnny Stroupc, Pat
Wells, and Belly Day were added to
the membership roll as new
members.
Prior to the meeting Marge
Franklin, SinClairc Shaganaw,
Pansy Gordon, and Nancy Colder
served the delicious luncheon for
the members present.
President Terri Dicks presided
over the meeting and expressed her
appreciation to the ladies in support
of the recent Branncn Motor Com
pany / Perry Classic that was held
at Perry Country Club.
Cathy Norris reported on a recent
trip that some of the ladies made to

games were rained out again. 1

downpour a half hour before "the
games.
The girls softball game between

Christie's took the lead again in
the fifth as Austin Kirby r cached on
an error to eventually score on a
passed ball. Dallas Waldrip came
around on a fielder's choice to put
Christie's up 7-5.
The score was again evened in
the bottom of the fifth. Kevin Ben
net singled and scored on Ben Kin
nas' double. A Scan Cooper sac fly
scored Kinnas to knot the game at
seven.
In the sixth Waldrip look the
Giants prevail , from P-1 B
was 19-16.
The Giants of Perry weren't fin
ished with scoring runs as Dustin
Rainey #2O the last batter ended the
hopes of Warner Robins as he hit a
hard line drive to center field and
ended up with a two run homerun
and increasing the Giants lead to
21-16.
In the bottom of the third the
Giants finally stopped Warner
Robins to only scoring 1 run and
winning the game 21-17.
The Giants next game is Friday
June 23. at 6:00 p.m., when the
Top cash, from P-1 B
to be able to compete on the local
track.
It is billed as one of the big
money and point races for the indi
vidual drivers and crews that will be
competing for the cash and the
points in the NHRA competition.

drivers and cars.
Second place awards include

tition Super Stock, Stock, Super
Gas, Super Comp, and S3OO in
Super Street.

Rotary overwhelms
the Exchange Club

Friday evening the Exchange Pee
Wee ball club took on the Rotary
club baseball team in Ochlatchee
Pec Wee action. The game ended up
with Rotary on lop by the score of
24 to 10.
In the first inning the action got
started off with Exchange looking
as if they were going to be a threat
to win the game over Rotary, after
scoring 3 runs in the top of the first
to out them into the lead by 3 to 0.
After three outs the threat to the
Rotary never crossed their minds.
With two outs the Rotary pee wee
Dublin. She announced that plans
are under way for future outings and
dates and limes will be; made avail
able in the near future.
Betty Kelly reported on the up
coming Heart of Georgia Tourna
ments and advised that announce
ments for these events will be
posted on the bulletin board.
She also announced that the date
for the Annual Invitational will be
July 18lh, and it was requested that
all members support this tourna
ment.
Golf Course Superintendent
Doug Will, expressed his apprecia
tion to the LG A for their support of
the fcccnt course beautification
projects, and announced upcoming
changes or improvements that arc
planned for the future.
The next meeting of the PLGA
will be an evening meeting, and a
nine hole scramble will be held at 6
p.m. following the meeting.

Showdown Bonus of SSOO to both
the number one qualifier in the
Alcohol Dragster and Alcohol
Funny Car, plus qualifying
position points leading to a spot in
the 1990 "Winston Alcohol
Showdown."
The feature races will be eight
car qualified fields in Alcohol
Dragster and Alcohol Funny Car,
featuring side-by-side eighth-mile
performance of 4.00 seconds at
speeds in excess of 180 miles per
hour.
General admission tickets will
be $lO on Saturday and sls on
Sunday, and children under 12 years
of age admitted for $5 on both days.
For those who want to lake a
closer look at these souped up and
precision made cars, a pit pass can
be obtained for the cost of $5 and
you will be permitted in the pit area
to see just what they look like up
close, and may get some answers to
questions you may have about the
dragsters and funny cars.

score to Exchange 6 and Rotary 18.

Exchange's favor as the team rallied
with no outs to score 4 runs, it
soon was halted as Rotary played
excellent defense.
When the last call was made by
the umpire in the bottom of the
third inning the score ended up 24-
10.

Harold's comes back
to defeat Crossroads

With all the rain this week most
of the teams at Ochlatchcc Park
haven't had much of a chance to
complete many baseball or softball
games.
But Wednesday night, Harold's
Amoco and Crossroads managed to
get in the six innings needed.
Crossroads took the lead in the
first inning with Jake Stewart
crossing home plate, and after that
score the came to a dead end until
the sixth inning when Michael Al
ligood and Chris Stewart scored on
a double by Robbie Lockman for
them.
Harold's boys started putting
runs on the scoreboard in the bot
tom of the second inning when

starter.
In a quarterback competition held
at the camp Ken Sikes advanced to
the final four out of the 275 quar
terbacks there.
The quarterbacks along with all
the other Panthers arc getting ready
for the start of practice August 7.
Davis gets
no-hitter

After a string of one and two
hitters. Keith Davis of the Bank of
Perry surpassed the final hurdle as
Davis threw a no-hit shutout.
Davis' performance overshad
owed the performance of another
Davis, Michael who gave up 4 runs
in five innings.
Davis' no-hitter was only in
trouble once, when a sharp grounder
headed up the middle, but Jason
Brett made a diving stop and flipped
to shortstop Malt Shipley for the
out.
The Bank of Perry got on the
board for the first time in the sec
ond as a Kirk Adams single brought
in the first run. Adams later scored
on a passed ball to pul the Bank up
2-0.
Crossroads almost scored in the
third as Robby Lackcrman walked
and moved all the way to third on a
throwing error, but Lackcrman was
caught in a rundown and lagged at
third.
Davis helped himself out in the
fifth as he scored Jason Brett with a
single. David Walker averted an
other run scoring as he made a fine
stab at a hard hit line drive.
Davis ended up facing Michael
Davis, Crossroad's cleanup hitter,
Michael Davis hit a high pop to
shallow right field. Jason Brett got
under it and snagged it ensuring
Davis' no-hitter.
In other Ochlatachce action the
girls softball teams will use
Saturday to catch up on all the
games that were rained out in the
recent downpours.
This will finish up the season
for the girls except for the all-star
games which will be held
Tuesday for the Pec Wee girls,
and Thursday for the junior and
senior league girls.
Brian Nash singled and Robert
Griffin doubled scoring Nash.
Andrew Willard drew a walk and
then Greg Day doubled md Willard
crossed home for another run for
Harold's, and then Day scored on an
overthrow to the third naseman,
making the score 4-1
Keith Waites of Harold's learn
singled in the third and then scored
on a base hit by Robert Graham.
Waites crossed home again in
the fifth and the score went up to 6-
1 in favor of Harold's Amoco.
In the sixth inning the game be
came part of Ochlalchec history
when Crossroads were only able to
pick up two more runs and the
game ended 6-3 with the win going
to Harold’s.
