The music and dancing arc going to be lots of fun, and from the names of the players we've heard so far, we know it'll be well done. *** Speaking of the musical, Mar garet Frederick, daughter of Felder and Susie Frederick, is in the Ma con Little Theatre play! Her mother said she is playing "one of the ladies." This will be a real acting job for Margaret, since she is such a nice and proper young lady! She was graduated from Westfield Schools this year and plans to go to Sweet briar College next fall. Although she loves to act, her first love is dance. She was on the Vcspidaetic drill-dance team and was one of the WHS girls who won competitions sending her to per form in the Macy's parade in New York and at the Aloha Bowl in Hawaii. Margaret is also spending much of her lime working at a restaurant in Macon. Among the 120 students named to the 1989 Dean's List for the Winter quarter at Fort Valley State College was Sherry A. Watkins of Elko. Also named to the list from Perry were Kevin D. Bloodworth and Mary M. Fife. We congratulate Sherry, Kevin and Mary for their accomplish ments. To be eligible for the Dean's List, students have to earn a 3.33 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 grading system. ♦ ** Also on the scholarship awards front, Macon College, Georgia College and Fort Valley State Col lege have announced the names of 73 Robins Center students who have been named to the Spring Quarter, 1989, Dean's List. From Perry, those who made the list include Shannon N. Cranford, Rayford Stan Fendley, Betty Sutton Home, Karen Nixon McLeod and Terri L. Rivera. From Kathleen, those named include Steve Michael Clark and Karen Johnson Lucas. Congratulations to each of these fine students! ♦ ♦♦ We got word that Eddie Wilson look his wife Penny and his son to Six Flags for the day this past week. Eddie works at the Bank of Scouts, from P-1 A "Eagle's Nest" located on the outskirts of the campground. The location brought about the typical gripes over the abundance of mosquitos and the lack of air conditioning. "The showers don't work," staled Art MeSwain, "and we have powdered eggs and powdered milk,” continued MeSwain. But MeSwain added that it was fun and it gave everybody a time to get away from it all. The scouts wake up at 6:30 to prepare to eat at 7:00 a.m. After breakfast they begin their day of classes and a full schedule before Taps at 11:00 p.m. But some of younger campers are sleeping less than the allotted time. "We never sleep. We stay up all night," said Lindsey Harrell. The older scouts agreed, "they never sleep but we do," said Joey Hawk, "we sleep through breakfast." The troop will return from Benjamin Hawkins Saturday. f [fflasff's f 1 BEFORE & AFTER I M, Mettnfty * CMMnw Ww I 1 Customer Appreciation Sale up to 25% off Maternity and Children’s Wear. Congratulations go to Stuart on his graduation from such a fine school. *** Macon College has also an nounced its Spring Quarter, 1989, Dean's List. Perry is well-repre sented, with Kellie R. Bowen, David A. (Tony) Crockett, Mark Edwin Fuller and Gail Faulk Stuckey being named to the list. Kathleen resident Kimberly Anne Powell also made the list. We always think it's great to congratulate students on their ac complishments and merit they certainly deserve to be recognized. *** Some of you may have read the news that the actor, Victor French, of "Highway to Heaven" and "Little House on the Prairie," to name but two of his hits, died recently in California. I've mentioned several times that I have a brother, Harry Middle brooks, in the music and acting business in Hollywood. Well, in this case, the death of a celebrity strikes pretty close because Victor was a friend of Harry's and was a frequent member of the audience at clubs in the Valley where Harry plays. In fact, the two of them worked together several limes, once on "Gunsmoke" during its last season and on "Little House" and "Highway to Heaven. Victor was always on the alert for a part for Harry in one of his shows, since Harry has begun to do more acting jobs along with his music. In Victor’s will he left a provi sion for the family to have him cremated so that the sadness and planning for a funeral would be minimized. He also told his son, Victor Jr., and his twin daughters that it was in his will that they throw a party for all his friends a few weeks after his death, so they would remember him fondly and not feel quite as sad. Harry got a call from Victor Jr. just last week inviting him to the party in a week or so. He said they planned to honor Victor's request, and a limousine would arrive for Harry at the given time to take him to the party. The son also told Tharpe, from P-6A 1 hope you will get the bowling al ley for Perry you so badly want. *** Mr. Kenneth Rollins and chil dren, Gina and Kenneth visited his Mother, Mrs. Dorothy Rollins and sister and brothers, niece Sunday afternoon. Jamal came back with him from Atlanta where he had spent two weeks with his Dad. *♦* Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Rollins of Evansville, Ind. returned to Atlanta last week from the Virgin Islands where they spent several days. *** Mr. Kerce and everyone at the Houston Home Journal invite you to come by and visit, also to sub scribe for the paper. Thanks in ad vance. Harry lo bring his lampshade, since that had been a pari of his dad's re quest. Victor French died of cancer after a painful battle. He went from his rather beefy frame down to around 100 pounds before losing his battle. Although this may not be your way to deal with grief, this was the actor's way of trying to make things easy for his family. Right or wrong, your code or not, this was his. His friends plan lo carry out his last request It's hard to imagine how hard this news has hit actor Michael Green awarded for having a heart Yates Green receives a plaque for his contributions to the annual American Heart Association's fund drive from fellow Kiwanian Dr. Felix Smith. Green was unable to attend the Heart Fund banquet, where the award was to be given. The Heart Fund is one of the Klwanis Club's service projects.
