the final period.
Green tied the game for the final
time at 60 with a short jumper in
the lane.
Tourney,
from 1B
"Warner Robins is always going to
be a well coached disciplined team
that's going to do a good job."
Over in the other brackets with
Northeast Macon and Peach County
in the same brackets with Perry and
Crawford County, Thomas feels the
first game should be an entertaining
game.
"Peach, I saw where they have
beaten Macon County Friday
night," he said. "So, looks like
they are on top of their game.
Northeast, while their record is
close to 500, they played a
competitive game with Southwest
over the last week, lost by about
eight. So they got to feel good
about themselves playing an eight
point game with Southwest. That
ought to be an interesting
matchup."
Perry starts off the tournament
with former rival Crawford County.
"Perry and Crawford County arc
two schools that have played each
other a lot in the past but haven't
played for several years," Thomas
added. "That should be an entertain
ing game because Crawford County
loves to play an uptempo style
game."
None of the teams that will play
in the opening round play each
other during the regular season and
that was one consideration when the
schedule for the tournament was
made.
On the girls side, Northeast with
Yolanda Chester and Peach County
with Natalie While open and Perry
opens with Crawford County.
Southeast returns as a favorite to
repeat with the three big girls
(Denise Jones, Crystal Clark and
Dcquita Watts) from last year's
tournament champions.
Dodge County has a good girls
program and could make it to the
finals.
"You get to the semifinals Friday
night at 7 o'clock, you ought to
have a heck of a girls semifinal
game between probably Southeast
and Dodge," Thomas said. "That
ought to be an excellent semifinal."
Blumen,
from 1B
and it's not going to be good talk.
Either way, 1 feel the team will
be ready come region play. This is
when it counts anyways.
One coach put best when he said,
"It's not how you play now. It's
how you play in February."
Thomas agreed and used the anal
ogy of Kansas last year.
Kansas defeated UNLV and many
other lop teams in December, but
when the NCAA tournament rolled
around in March, Kansas was elim
inated and UNLV won it all.
Hopefully, his squad can turn
things around and come February,
the Panthers will be there in a
position to win and make it to the
state playoffs.
Smith answered with two baskets
and the Eagles led 64-60 with 3:48
remaining in the contest.

The Christinas Crossroads

Peach County, led by All middle

out to a 13-7 first quarter lead and
was never headed.
When Jocelyn Howard hit a 3-

After Northeast's Romona Dun

on a 7-0 run to build the lead to 18
points.
Howard hit two charity tosses
with 46 seconds remaining in the

33-15, but Shenita Wilson added a
basket just before intermission.
White hit a 3-pointer to give
Peach a 41-22 lead with 5:20 left in
the third period but Northeast ran
off eight consecutive points to trim
perimeter. It helped because Ken
came in and hit a few on the
perimeter," Thomas said. "He was
rusty, especially his first trip on the
floor. I don't like to make excuses

That was as close as the
Raiderettes could get.
Peach led 50-33 heading into the

Peach increased the lead to 60-37
when Northeast ran off another 10

a 7-0 run of their own and pulled
away to take the 22 point win.
While had 22 points while

how it ended up."

The Raiders came back with four
