Houston Arts Alliance to present
program displaying local talent
The Houston Arts Alliance is
coordinating the "On My Own
Time" program for the businesses
of Houston County. Glenn Heck,
Houston Arts Alliance president,
slated the purposes of this visual
arts program are, "to identify,
encourage and display artistic
talents of employees in business
and industry; to foster enlightened
relations between labor and
management; to strengthen the in
terdependence of business and the
arts; and to effect a closer
relationship among business, the
arts and the total community."
The following businesses are
inviting their employees to
participate: the city of Warner
Robins, the city of Perry, Houston
County Board of Education,
Houston County Commission,
Robins Air Force Base, the
Houston Mall merchants and Flint
Electric Membership Corporation.
Delphians celebrate Christmas
Delphian Club members and their
guests gathered at the New Perry
Hotel on Thursday, Dee. 13, for the
club's annual Christmas luncheon.
President Conette Gayle wel
comed those present and Carolyn
Etheridge gave the invocation.
Following lunch Evelyn Rose
brock, program chairman, wel
comed the special guests for the
day. They were Mr. and Mrs. A1
Pearson. Mr. Pearson presented his
delightful interpretation of the
book, "How Come Chrisunas?"

Employees of participating
businesses in the north end of
Houston County will exhibit their
works at Houston Mall in Warner
Robins on Jan. 14-19. Works from
the south end of Houston County
will be shown the same week at the
Perry public library on Washington
Street.
The Warner Robins Art
Association will provide the
judging.
The winners will have the
opportunity to show their work at
the Kirkland Gallery in Macon later
in the spring as part of the Macon
Arts Alliance "On My Own Time"
program.
Heck said, " On My Own Time'

Before the meeting adjourned,
Sara Tabor distributed Christmas
gifts to those holding lucky num
bers.
The tables were decorated with
festive Christmas arrangements and
the hostesses had placed name cards
and miniature tree ornaments at
each place.
Hostesses for the occasion were
Alice Gilbert, chairman; Ruth
Saxon, Margaret Talton and Sara
Tabor.

Homecoming participant
Kristi Biles of Perry was a representative on the 1990
Middle Georgia College Homecoming Court. Kristi is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ellis Biles. She is a
sophomore at MGC majoring in business. At Middle
Georgia she is the treasurer of Gamma Beta Phi, a stu
dent government association senator, and vice presi
dent of the Middle Georgia Show Choir.

Happy Birthday!
Matthew Ryan Godbee will celebrate his first birthday
on Dec. 21. His parents are Randy and Connie Godbee
of Perry. He also has an older sister, Heather. Grand
parents are Marie and Carl B. Trawick of Perry and Joe
and Estelle Godbee of Warner Robins.

Griffin named to Dean's List at
Valdosta State for fail quarter
Valdosta State College has
announced that Allen Griffin, Jr. of
Perry has been named to the Dean's
List for academic achievement.
Griffin, a freshman at Valdosta
Stale, made a 4.0 on a 4.0 scale to
receive this honor.
The son of Ronnie and Brenda
Griffin, his plans include a degree
in the medical field.
He is a 1990 honor graduate of
Perry High School.
