Watch out baby boomers, gingivitis and other
terrible gum diseases are waiting to attack you
By JAN HAMPTON
Managing Editor
Attention baby boomers! Now is
the time to watch out lor a fierce,
harsh, disease.
It stalks its victims (which usu
ally fall between the ages of 30 and
50) while they sleep, after meals,
on the tennis court, anywhere, any
time.
When many adults reach their
30s, 40s and 50s, visits to the
dentist become less frequent. They
believe that they have passed
through the cavity age and every
thing is fine.
"Sooner or later, these adults find
out every thing isn't okay," Dr.
Robert Beals, a Warner Robins
dentist said. "But by the time they
end up visiting, gum disease has
taken its toll."
Gum disease is the fierce, harsh
disease which attacks adult victims.
More importantly, the disease is
silent.
Gum disease is caused by plague.
Plague is a brew of saliva, food

With periodontitis, bacteria attack

Also many adults don’t realize
that fillings are only designed to

fillings crack and pull away from
the tooth, bacteria creeps in and be

"Adults should brush and floss,"
Beal said. "I can't stress enough the
need to floss, floss, floss. Adults
should also plan to visit their den

twice, to have teeth professionally
cleaned."
The alternative to brushing,
flossing and visiting the dentist is
