Docs this sound radical? It isn’t.
It is simply that we have heard so
little about the other side of God’s
character, justice and the wrath that
follows it, that we have become
numb to the wickedness of sin and
the wrath of God.
Speaking of apostate Israel in
Deuteronomy 32, God cries out:
"They have made Me jealous
with what is not God; they have
provoked Me to anger with their
idols.. . For a fire is kindled in My
anger, and bums to the lowest part
of hell, and consumes the earth
with its yield, and sets on fire the
foundations of the mountains"
(Deut.32:2l-22).
Speaking of those who have
turned away from lives of holiness
and turned their backs on the love
God offers, He states:
"Vengeance is Mine, and retribu
tion, in due time their foot will
slip; For the day of their calamity
is near... See now that I, lam He,
and there is no god besides Me; It is
I who put to death and give life. I
have wounded, and it is I who heal;
and there is no one who can deliver
from My hand. If 1 sharpen My
flashing sword, and My hand takes
hold on justice, I will render
vengeance on My adversaries, and I
will repay those who hate Me"
(Deut.32:35-41).
For those who say, "That’s the
Old Testament view of God," take a
page out of the life of Jesus Christ.
Turning to some of the religious
leaders of His day He said:
"But woe to you scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites, because you

rant. These events were isolated in
cidents. However, the perpetrator in
all cases used paramilitary auto
matic and/or semiautomatic
weapons.
A recent edition of The CSG
Sentinal, a Citizens for Safe Gov
ernment publication, reported on
U.S. Congressional hearings on
banning these types of weapons.
The publication was extemely
critical of any attempts at gun con
trol legislation.
In one article, the recent Supreme
Court case of U.S. -vs-Fowler was
reported. Fowler, a Kennesaw gun
smith, had attempted to obtain a li
cense for transfer of manufactured
fully automatic firearms. The Bu
reau of Alcohol Tobacco and
Firearms(BATF) blocked the appli
cation citing the Hughes Am
mendment to the 1986 Firearms
Owners Protection Act. Farmer
sued and won. However, the deci
sion was overturned at the Appel
late level.
Since Constitutional issues were
never addressed, the U.S. Supreme
Court declined to hear the appeal,
January 14th of this year. Farmer's
lawyer, Atlanta Attorney John
D’Orazio made an interesting re
mark in an interview with the Sen
tinel. According to D'Orazio, if the
government has the authority to
ban one type of weapon, they have
the authority to to ban any class of
firearm they choose.
This contention is stronly felt
among many citizens who are
against gun control of any kind.
Their concern is once contrails are
started, where will they stop? The
feeling is that once any type is

from men; for you do not enter in
yourselves, nor do you allow those
who are entering to go in. .
.because you devour widows’
houses, even while for a pretense
you make long prayers; therefore
you shall receive greater condemna
tion. . .because you travel about on
sea and land to make one proselyte;
and when he becomes one, you
make him twice as much a son of
nell as yourselves... You serpents,
you brood of vipers, how shall you
escape the sentence of hell?"
(Matt. 23).
Does that sound like the unbibli
cal picture of a weak, wishy-washy,
mild-mannered Jesus that many
would wish so they can feel more
comfortable in their sin?
For those who have suffered great
pain because of the sin of others
who refuse to face their sin and re
pent, take comfort, God’s justice
will fall on them. His vengeance
will be more than any can image.
For those who are tired of seeing
the same old sin dressed up with
excuses and rationalizations, get
angry! Get mad enough, not to sin
yourselves, but to do something
about it. Make an impact on your
society by getting involved in erad
icating the causes and healing the
hurt and broken lives.
For all of us, never forget that
our loving, forgiving God is also a
God of wrath and will take C
vengeance upon the unrepentant V
sinner. This should cause us to E
live according to His Word and be "
very careful how we walk.
banned, the road is opened to ban
ning of all types—a percieved vio- f
lation of the Second Amendment. I
I disagree. Automatic and/or I
semiautomatic paramilitary .
weapons are a direct threat the free
dom American's now have. The
Second Amendment makes no dis- I
tinction between types of weapons
because automatic fire power didn't
exist. In my opinion, The existance
of automatic and semiautomatic
weapons is a clear and present threat
to the tranquility of peaceful
coexistance envisioned by the
framers of the Constitution.
The many do not enjoy increased
freedom with the precense of such
weapons. Society lives in fear.
Living in fear is not living in free
dom. The American public becomes
more enslaved to the will of the
few. The weapons, then, do not
insure freedom at all.
I agree, a society has a right to
protect itself from threat whether
that threat is external or internal.
Banning automatic and semiau
tomatic paramilitary weapons does
not automatically diminish the
public's right to bear arms. Total
restriction comes from choice. Gun
owners and non-owners can protect
their Constitutional rights to bear
arms by acting responsibly. The
rsponsible thing to do is to pressure
political leaders into acting in the
best interest of the public. The
public's best interest is served by
banning paramilitary weapons.
If the recent Gun Show in Perry
is any indication of the national
availabilty of these weapons, the
public should act immediately.

"We're not done for yet," said
Webb.
"We are going to keep trying.
There's a possibility we can get
some of the Olympic hopefuls here
for an exhibition.”
In other news, Board members
heard a report on the upcoming
Georgia National Stock Show, to
be held in Perry, February 28th
through March 10th.
According to Webb, more than
800 youngsters will participate in
the State 4-H and State FFA com
petition.
State Vocational Agricul
ture(VOAG) Livestock specialist
Dale Retticker said the show is the
biggest he's seen in 30-years.
More than 1200 hogs, approxi
mately 650 steers and cattle, and 50
sheep will be judged in the show.
"This is very gratifying," said
Webb.
"One of our main purposes for
being here is to provide a service to
youth agriculture programs."
Junior Livestock judging will be
held March first through the third.
