Tucker student interviews Leonard]
By NATASHIA WHEELER
Tucker Elementary
Stephanie Leonard, a senior at
Perry High School, was recently
selected to be a PAGE in Atlanta
for Mr. Larry Walker.
Natashia: I would like to know
what a Page really does.
Stephanie: Well, our main job
was to sit outside the door to the
House of Representatives and de
liver messages. If someone wanted
to tell Mr. Walker something, and
could not go down onto the Hose
floor, we took the message to him.
They have people in Atlanta who
go to the General Assembly and try
to persuade the Senators and Repre
sentatives to vote a certain way on
a bill. These people are called lob
byists. They are not allowed on the
floor when the legislature is in ses
sion. We were responsible to take
notes from these lobbyists to Mr.
Walker. Actually we were errand
women all day. It was great.
Natashia: How do you get to be a
Page?
Stephanie: I have always lived in
Perry and I've known Mr. Larry
Walker all my life. His family and
my family are friends. I was asked
by Mr. Walker to be his Page for a
day.
Natashia: How long were you in
Atlanta?
Stephanie: I was there two day. I
stayed at my grandmothers house
there in Atlanta. I got to ride the
MARTA down to the Capitol. That
was so much fun. I really felt like I
belonged there.
Natashia: Was being a Page like
Problems,
Problems,
problems.

Tucker Elementary
In a sad home in New York, there
was a boy named Jimmy and his
sister named Lisa. They both had a
problem in school and with their
parents. Their parents got divorced
and never spoke to each other. In
school Jimmy always copies off
other people's test. His sister al
ways told on him. Everything was
going wrong!
They tried to make everything
right, but they couldn't. Lisa kept
on crying every night because their
mom and dad kept on arguing. After
school Jimmy always went straight
to his friends house and not straight
home. Jimmy gave his mom and
his sister a hard time. Jimmy is
nine years old and Lisa is eleven
years old.
His mom wasn’t home much be
cause mom and dad are filling out
divorce papers. Lisa watches him
when mom is not home. When his
sister tells him to straighten up his
room, he turned the music on and
ignored her. When his mother came
home she was very tired. He ran
around the house. Once, when she
first started to fill out divorce pa
The Trip to Thomaston
By JOSEPH FOUNTAIN
Tucker Elementary
One hot day in the middle of July
me and my grandmother and my
sister drove to Thomaston. We
went in my grandmothers little new
gray car. We were going there to
see my aunt and cousin.
My aunt has a pool at her house.l
can swim and I like to, but I don't
do it that well. But while I was was
swimming, my grandmother talked.
We swam about thirty minutes. We
went to Pizza Hut I lost my friend
ship ring there. I had bought it at
Walmart in Warner Robins.
The Army
By BOBBY LEE GREEN
Tucker Elementary
Going to the army is such a sight
But when we get over there we have
to fight
I think they understood
But when they get over there to
fight
It's not very good.
They shoot their guns
They people that are doing it
They think it is fun
But what they do is what they get.
The people that ride in the air
Ride in jets.

you thought it would be?
Stephanie: Yes, I want to go into
law and politics, so I really loved
it. I have been to the Capitol be
fore, but this was a lot more fun. I
could really get involved. When I
was there it was the first day of the
new session for this year. There
was not too much voting going on,
but they were beginning to discuss
the lottery. There were a lot of
people there to lobby the
Representatives. They were also
organizing for the up-coming ses
sion. One interesting thing hap
pened is that a man who is sup
posed to sit next to M. Walker was
not in the session that day. Mr.
Walker asked me to come down to
the floor and sit with him. That
was really exciting. I got to sit
right there on the floor with the
Representatives.
Natashia: Did you make some
new friends while you were there?
Stephanie: Yes, I did. Many of
the Pages were quite a bit younger
than I, but it was fun to get to
know them. I would encourage
anyone to try to be a Page some
time. It is a wonderful experience.

pers, he was running around the
house and knocked his mom down.
She was O.K.
Mom and dad had to go to court.
At first mom was scared about the
divorce because she never did that
before. They got divorced because
dad was going out with other peo
ple every night. Dad kept on saying
he was going to the bowling alley.
Jimmy’s mom knew that wasn’t
true.
Soon everything started to work
out. Jimmy stopped copying
everybody's test and started coming
home. Mom got everything
straightened out with the divorce.
Lisa was happier than ever because
mom was home and the fighting
was over.
