Jason Brett
wins award,
tosses 1-hitter
By COSBY WOODRUFF
Sports Editor
Perry High School rising
sophomore Jason Brett recently
reaped one of the top honors at
Georgia Southern University's
baseball camp, and then he pitched
a complete-game, one-hitter in a
summer league game.
Brett, a back-up infielder for the
Panther team this spring, was
awarded the Coach's Award at
Georgia Southern's camp.
According to his father, 'Earl
Brett, over 100 players attended the
camp, but only five earned honors.
The coach’s award was based on
a player's ability, attitude and
knowledge of the game, Earl Brett
said.
Brett followed his camp award
by hurling a one-hitter in an all-star
tournament game.
Pitching for the Warner Robins
American League 14-15 year old
all-stars, Brett tossed a one-hitler in
a game against Wilkinson County
Monday.
Warner Robins took an 9-3 win
in the game to advance to a
Wednesday game in the tournament.

The American Family is being
tom apart by debt, forcing millions of
mothers into the work force. This is
a result of our U S Congress' irre
sponsible spending which fuels our
deficit-driven inflation Congres
sional response has been to propose
federal childcare programs, costing
S3O billion, which will move the
child farther from the parent and
closer to the state I support tax
incentives for mothers who wish to
stay at home We must preserve
and encourage the family, not aid its
demise.
I support the 'Sanctity of Human
Life' Plank in the Republican Plat
form Please remember, abortion is
only the 'Tip of the Iceberg' in the
right to life conflict. When a society
accepts a diminished view of human
life, a subtle yet profound shift in a
nation's attitude occurs toward all
people who are 'unwanted' - the
retarded, the physically impaired,
the elderly, the insane, etc The next
step is to offer death as a 'merciful'
alternative to those who don't meet
the criterion for the 'Good Life'. We
need only go back to Nazi Germany
to validate this conclusion.

The homosexual lobby has pres

on insanity, for now we can neither

need help and we should do all we
can to aid in their recovery, but we
must not give in to their outrageous
demands that will ultimately destroy
our nation.
