The Perry Convention and Visi
tor's Bureau Authority gave formal
approval for a 520.000 contribution
to the Georgia Cutting Horse Futu
rity to be held at the Agricenter
January 13-18 at their meeting
Thursday.
The Georgia Cutting Horse As
sociation will use the 520,000 for
pri/e money during the event in an
effort to attract a high number of
particiapams. The decision to con
tribute the funds out of the promo
tion budget was approved by the au
thority during a phone vote, but it
was not legally binding until the
decision Thursday.
The board instructed Fay Riddles
executive director of the authority ,
and Walter Lewis, chairman of the
authority, to enter into a contract
with the cutting horse authority
defining the services under which
the money will be presented.
We are looking at a long-term
arrangement. As the show grows
in prominence our funding com
mitment will be less and less. The
Agricenter has agreed to let the
association use Reaves Arena for
two shows in August and
November to help work out any
bugs prior to the January show.
Mike Froelich the new Agricentcr
director, is a breath of fresh air. I'm
sure we will be able to work with
him on a very effective basis, "
Riddles said.
Lewis told the members there are
concerns over the handling of the
cutting horse show.
"There are some gray areas for us
on this show We have no experi
ence doing some of those things.
We need to gel together with the
city, the chamber, Agricenter and
our members to discuss long range
plans for the show. We want to
make a long range investment and
we don't want to run out of funds.
We need a community effort on a
large scale, and what we don't have
in funds we need to make up in en
thusiasm," Lewis said.
Riddles said she would like to
put together a program for the event
depending upon the number of

away from home. Here are some
common guidelines.
If you are traveling by commercial
earner, do not pack your prescription

going to check your luggage. Lug

To avoid this, always carry more

you, and have duplicate copies of
your presciption, w ith your doctor's
