Summertime is known around the
world as the time of year when
people take those “planned out” va

that long-awaited trip to visit dis
tant relatives.
But this is a very special summer
for the McGhee family of Perry.
This year is the first time all 12
children have come home with their
own families to be with Mom and

The Warner Robins Tennis Asso

Cantrell Center Charity Tennis
Tournament.
The event will be sponsored by
the Cantrell Center for Physical
Therapy & Sports Medicine.
“This tournament is open to all
age levels,” Lassie Cantrell, owner
of Cantrell Center, said.
“We are new to Warner Robins.
We both got our Masters of Physi

From its Warner Robins loca
tion, Allied LP Gas has been pro
viding propane gas service to citi
zens of Middle Georgia since 1964.
The company was founded by
Roger Alligood, who moved to
Warner Robins from Macon
County in 1951, and started the
business as Allied Oil Company in
the early 19505. Allied Oil Com
pany provided heating oil service to
area residents until 1967. With the
transition of consumers from oil to
gas, propane gas service was added
in 1964. The business changed its
name to Allied LP Gas Company
in 1967 to more closely identify
with its primary service.
Today, Allied LP Gas Company
is the only company providing
propane gas service that is owned
by Houston Countians. Ken
Alligood is the general manager and
Steve Alligood serves as the
company’s field services manager.
Now, with the new Perry location,
the company is better equipped to
service the propane needs of present
and future customers in the Perry
area. The company is well known
for its reliability and economical
gas service.
Recognized by its slogan as “The
Propane People” Allied LP Gas
makes customer service and safety
its top priority.

in the “States.”
“I am from Virginia. There are
some from Ohio, Miami and also
from the Atlanta area,” McGhee
said.
She explained as her brothers and
sisters were growing up, everyone
went their separate ways.
McGhee said her sister Geraldine
is an actress who has played in a
movie.
“This is our way of honoring her
(mother). She is truly loved by all.
Raising 12 children can be hard and
we all wanted to come back home
Georgia. We decided we wanted to
come back home and set up a prac
tice,” Cantrell said.
“Primarily why we are holding
this tournament is to promote good
health as a function in the city,”
she said.
“Each year we will be giving the
proceeds to different charity organi
zations. This year the proceeds will
go to the Hospice of Houston
County. Next year it may be the
Special Olympics,” she added.
Tennis matches will begin at 6
p.m. Tuesday, August 11, with the
finals in each division being played
Sunday afternoon, August 16.
