Wednesday Senator Sam Nunn will
address the Chamber's annual mem
bers meeting in January.
Buice made the announcement at
the chamber's regular board of direc

have not been finalized, but the
chamber said they arc looking into

the meeting.
Accountant Kenny Kitchens, of
Perry, Chambliss, Sheppard,
Thompson and Roland conducted an
audit at the chamber's request and
reported to the board his findings.
"The purpose of the audit was to
express an opinion on the validity
and accuracy of the chamber's finan

opinion because some of the source

Chiropractor visits Exchange
By BRIAN LAWSON

Dr. Craig Patterson, a Perry chi
ropractor, spoke to the Exchange
Club Thursday on the benefits of
chiropractic care.
According to Patterson, the essen
tial components of chiropractic care
arc very precise controlled adjust
ments of the spinal column.
Patterson showed a video dis
cussing various acute and chronic
problems the adjustments are able
to eliminate.
The acute cases stem primarily
from trauma injuries, sudden
movements, overuse and heavy
lifting.
The advantages of chiropractic
treatment described by the video in
clude improved health, promotion
of healing, pain relief, reduction of
swelling, relaxation of tight mus
cles and increased motion of joints.
"Adjustment is using specific
force appliccd to spinal areas to re
lieve pinched nerves, increase range
ol motion and restore normal joint
function.
In the past, Patterson said chiro
practors and medical doctors w'ere
often at odds on the effectiveness of
chiropractic treatment. The rela
tionship has improved in recent
years due largely to an increase in
Fair called ’tremendous’ success
The state sponsored 1992 Georgia
National Fair was a tremendous
success in e very aspect of the event.
"There is no other entertainment
value like the Georgia National
Fair," said Michael A. Frochlich,
executive director. "The Fair is af
fordable family fun. It is an educa
tional and entertainment showcase
for Georgians of all ages; for ex
hibitors and visitors alike,"
Frochlich added.
Attendance at the Georgia
National Fair was up 7.1 percent to
290,419. Participation in the Fair's
exhibit areas saw a great increase,
too. Livestock and horse entries
rose from 5,153 to 7,000; home
and fine arts competitions increased
from 3,650 to 5,517; youth ex
hibits (4-H, FFA and FH A/HERO)
went from 335 to 720; students on
school field trips increased from
2,444 to 10,537; and the Alan
Jackson/Diamond Rio concert was a
sellout.
Frochlich credits the increase in
participation from exhibitors and
visitors to the fair's diverse activi
hibits us from offering an unquali
fied opinion with all source docu
ments. The chamber asked us to go
over your numbers and we found no
problem with your record keeping,"
Kitchens said.
Chamber President Trudic Warren
said the chamber had received a
number of compliments on their
booth at the fair and praised the ef
forts of all the volunteers who
manned the booth.
Attorney Tom Daniel will be
hosting a seminar on the newly en
acted American Disabilities Act
Oct. 27 at the Welcome Center.
Daniel told the board members the
act affects every business with over
15 employees and it is essential to
be fully informed about it.
The chamber is asking for pre
registration for the free seminar
which will be presented twice. The
first presentation begins at 4 pan
and the second begins at 7 pan.
Contact Phyllis Thompson at 987-
the amount of scientific research
supporting the value of chiropractic
care.
There arc several techniques chi
ropractors employ including hand
adjustments, various instruments
and physical therapy. But the main
function, according to Patterson, is
adjustment to promote normal
spinal biomechanics.
Chiropractic is also an excellent
way to treat acute soft tissue in
juries Patterson said.
"It is the best form of treatment
for whiplash and sports-related soft
tissue injuries. In addition to alle
viating pain it reduces the chances
of long-term chronic deterioration
of scar tissue and arthritis," Patter
son said.
Chronic problems tire often caused
by long-term results of an injury,
lack of exercise, poor posture and
aging. Patterson said older patients
often have excessive connective tis
sue which prevents fluid from flow
ing freely through the joints. Chi
ropractic adjustments are designed
to restore the free flow of the spinal
fluid which in turn reduces pain,
improves coordination, flexibility
and strength of joints.
"When tissues are damaged chemi
cals produce swelling, pain, muscle
ties for all family members. "Our
reputation as a clean, family-ori
ented Fair is spreading throughout
Georgia and surrounding states,"
Frochlich said. Survey results sup
port our conclusions. "People
thanked us for a great fair and plan
to attend next year as a part of their
family's tradition," the executive di
me tor added.

Chamber Executive Vice-Presi
dent Peggie Williams reported to
the board the chamber's joint
"Business After Hours" held Oct. 8
at Houston Lake Country Club
with the Warner Robins chamber
was a success. Approximately 60
Perry chamber members were in at
tendance.
Williams attended meetings with
the Economic Development Asso
ciation and the Ministry of Industry
and Trade Monday in Atlanta.
The chamber will be holding a
cookout with Perry City Council
Thursday at the Buzzards Roost.
The Chamber Board will hold its
annual retreat in Atlanta Nov. 13-
14, to plan strategy for the coming
year. Current and future board
members will attend.
Williams also encouraged the
board to attend the Georgia Cham
ber Executives Annual Conference
in Atlanta Nov. 24-25.
spasms and restricted motion. Ad
justments over a period of time
should provide pain relief, restore
motion and may help release natural
painkillers. The most important
thing is the restoration of full func
tion. Regular care allows the re
moval of restrictions and is intended
to maintain the body's structure and
normal function and proper nerve
supply to all body parts," Patterson
said.
According to Patterson, pain and
body disfunction arc the first signs
of subluxations and pinched nerves.
Patterson recommended a visit to a
local chiropractic office for individ
uals experiencing pain and move
ment limitations.
When asked what a typical
adjustment costs, Patterson said,
"Depending on the care, in the
neighborhood of $25."
