Houston County Development
Authority Executive Director Dick
Ulm announced to the board of di

Thursday the annual "Existing In

will have a record number of indus

The event will be held at Houston
Lake Country Club and includes
golf and a barbecue. At least 103
individuals representing 48 local
industries have indicated they will
attend. The event is designed as a
forum to thank the industries for
their contributions to the county,
discuss any problems the compa
nies may be facing and examine fu
ture plans.
"We expect more respondants to
call and say they will participate.

The board appointed Hinnant to
fill the top school post when
Chapman announced Tuesday that
he would accept teaching position
at Fort Valley State College.
Hinnant, who is the principal at
Warner Robins High School, was
due to take superintendent's posi

the July 21 Democratic primary.
WRHS assistant principal Marianne
Melnick will succeed Hinnant.
Hinnant said he was looking for
ward to being superintendent. "I'm
excited," he said. 'This is coming a
little early, but l';m ready to roll up
my sleeves and get to work first
think Monday morning."
Though he said he would need to
work in the system before determin
ing his first priorities, Hinnant said
opening the lines of communica

the community will be the first
impact fell.
Board chairman B.P. Edenficld
said the new superintendent will re
ceive a pro-rated salary of $70,500
annually for the final two months
of this year. The board will re-nego

But already we arc looking at a
better industry response than we've
ever had," Ulm said.
Ulm said a California based
company, ITEK Optical is consider

"We have asked them to send us
some very specific financial infor
mation. They arc very interested in
moving and at this point they have
picked three locations, including
Warner Robins. They do a lot of
work with Robins Air Force Base
and they would like to be closer to
them," Ulm said.
An accounting service has also
inquired about a possible 50,000
square foot office project and Ulm
indicated he has sent the company
information about the Perry Indus
trial Park and the Warner Robins
spec building.
"We arc trying to keep the entire
county involved in industrial jevcl
