Scottish Inn Owner Andy Patel

That hole in the wall had been
plugged, and I think he might have

The hotel manger, Shirley
Burchfield, said DiLendick didn't
want to pay for the room or for the
calls he had made. "I didn't give
him any money back. I told him
Andy would have to do that."
Burchfield said DiLendick threat

he was recording their conversation.
DiLendick went into every room
taking notes, according to
Burchfield. "He acted like he was
doing his own investigation."
Patel said, "I'm not worried."
Stinson said, "It's a coincidence
that the Sally Jesse Raphael show
was on, and that's what made them
check behind the mirror.
This is the first time we've had a
case like this in Perry as far as I
know," Stinson said.
DiLendick was unavailable for

the honor stating, “I feel great. I

Malone praised the group effort
involved in winning the competi

shows. Most of the time the whole
cast is on stage,” she commented.
Having won the competition, the

Tips from Flint EMC
• Extension cords should be used
only when absolutely necessary.
The cords should be certified by an
independent testing laboratory, such
as Underwriters' Laboratory.
• Old, Cracked, worn or damaged
extension cords should be discarded.
Cords should be disconnected by
pulling on the plug, not the cord it
self.
• Cord should never be run under
carpets or rugs, which prevent the
cord from releasing heat.
• Outdoor extension cords should
be used for operating tools or lights
outside the home. Exposing indoor
extension cords to die elements can
make the insulation brittle.
• An added safety measure is to
use a ground fault circuit inter
rupter. This device reacts to the
smallest electric current leak by
stopping the flow of electricity,

The success of a governing doc
ument depends on the character of
the people and the world view they
espouse. John Adams made this
clear when he argued in 1789 that:
"We have no government armed
in power capable of contending in
human passions unbridled by
morality and religion. Our
Constitution was made only for a
moral and religious people. It is
wholly inadequate for the
government of any other."
The framers of the Constitution
were aware that they were dealing
with a Christian people. It would
have been impossible for them to
frame a document that would not be
acceptable to the Christian beliefs
of the people. When the faith of
the people changes, however, so
docs the meaning of the
Constitution. As Christians with
draw from civil government, a
moral vacuum is created that is
filled by anti-Christian (humanistic)
or nominally Christian government
officials.

Christian Constitution as the
Christian form of government, it is

Senator Fowler has been
consistently anti-defense
Dear Editor:
As one concerned about the military defense of our
nation and Robins Air Force Base in particular, I urge
Middle Georgia to look carefully at the candidates for the
U.S. Senate run-off on Nov. 24.
First, there is Paul Coverdell, who served as an Army
officer in the Far East and who supports a strong military
establishment to keep the peace and protect our nation. He
urges caution and carefully reasoned reduction in the mili
tary budget in the range of SSO billion over the next five
years. Paul Coverdell believes that history has taught
America well the painful faults of rushing to disarm.
On the other hand, there is Wyche Fowler, who has a
consistent pattern of anti-defense positions. Fowler voted
against the use of force in operations to free Granada, as
well as U.S. efforts to aid Nicaraguan freedom fighters in
their battle to establish a democracy, he voted against the
MX missile, the B-l bomber and most other new defense
systems, he opposed the sale of F-15 fighters to Saudi
Arabia. He has shown a remarkable disinterest in Robins
Air Force Base during his 16 years in Washington, seem
ing to appear in Warner Robins only at election time.
Fowler is now calling for defense budget cuts of SIOO
- billion. Approximately 50 percent of the defense bud
get is made up of personnel costs; obviously the Fowler
cuts would mean more unemployment and a weakened de
fense.
Paul Coverdell is the obvious choice for those who be
lieve it imperative to keep America strong in the uncertain
years ahead.
Sincerely,
Oliver C. Bateman

I he point is, the Constitution
separated the institution of the
church from the institution of the
state but not the Christian religion
from the federal state.
While there is a functional sepa

there is certainly no absolute sepa

Both institutions have a common
authority; they arc both under God
and accountable to His revealed

not the State. The head of the State
