nated. "We don't want the expensive
kind, just the SI2 ones," she said.

agreed to construct a painted island
and reconstruct the curbing on Ra
gin Drive so there will be more

Boulevard. Councilman James
Moore said, “Large-truck traffic is
having a hard time turning. It’s a
dangerous area.”
According to City Manager
Marion Hay, Funds for the project
will come from the contingency
fund. “The funds will be put into
the street fund,” Hay said. Ihc cost
will be almost S7,(XX).
In other business:
•The council adopted a resolution
of intent to construct a natural gas
line parallel to the North Perry By-
Pass sometime in the future. The
resolution states the council intends
to fund this project sometime in the
future. The city will have to borrow
about S6O4,(XX) for the project.
•A vote to waive the $1(X) parade
fee for Christmas at the Crossroads
unanimously passed.
•The Perry Shrine Club was
granted approval to sell Shrine pa
pers at various street intersections
throughout Perry.
Hutchens,

This year Hutchens has been nom
inated for Governor’s Honor and
was inducted into the National
Honor Society.
His community involvement in
cludes participating in the March of
Dimes Walkathon, helping with the
Special Olympics and collecting for
Project PAL. Last summer he aided
in youth outreach with his church,
First Baptist.
Larry Wood, youth minister at
First Baptist, was not surprised to
hear Hutchens received the award.
“He shows leadership by his con
cern for others,” stated Wood. He
added, “It’s nice to have young men
like that honored in that way.”
As recipient of the Hugh O’Brien
Leadership Award, Hutchens will
receive an all-expense paid trip to
the state convention and seminar.
Brent Collier was named this year’s
runner-up.
