Electric blankets
can cut costs
An electric blanket can help you
cut heating bills. According to one
well-known manufacturer, it will
save 15 percent off heating bills if
the thermostat is set back from 68
degrees to 55 degrees at bedtime.
And, the manufacturer says this can
be done without shivers with the
controlled warmth of an electric
blanket.
Besides saving money, an electric
blanket is a great comfort item.
According to the folks at Flint
EMC, once accustomed to being
comfortably warm and cozy without
the weight of heavily quilts or
blankets, a person will likely be an
electric buff for life.
Some tips when purchasing elec
tric blankets: Look for controls that
are illuminated and easy to read in
the dark. Make sure the size is large
enough to fully cover the bed and
have an eight inch or so drop on the
sides.
When using the blanket, keep the
controls on the bedside table. It will
be less likely to forget to turn it off
in the morning. An electric blanket
will cost only a few cents a day to
use.
