and one by Benita Billings.
The Lady Indians weren't through
yet, they scored a lay-up and then
after a steal hit two free throws
with 55 seconds left to play, cut
ting the Perry lead to 51-49.
The Lady Indians were forced to
foul to get the ball back and Benita
Billings knocked down five free
throws in 37 seconds to increase the
Perry lead to 56-49.

The Westfield Lady Hornets fell to
the Decrfield-Windsor Lady
Knights 59-42 in an intense and
physical contest Saturday night.
The loss was the Lady Hornets
fifth of the season.
The game started well for West
field with the Lady Hornets jump
ing out to a 14-8 first quarter lead.
Westfield freshman Jennifer Smith
scored the first bucket of the game
and had another strong performance
for the Lady Hornets. Smith scored
11 points and again was a force on
die boards.
The Lady Hornets played tough
defense for most of the first period,
allowing the Lady Knights only
eight points and only one basket in
close.
On offense Westfield spread the
scoring around and hit mostly from
down low on putbacks or penetra
tion in die lane.
In the second period the Lady
Hornets continued to deny die Lady
Knights anything from close range.
But the visitors warmed up from
the outside and went on a 12-0 run
with four straight three pointers,
two from sharp shooter freshman
Fain Spurlock and two from Kelly
Gruhl. The three pointers tied the
score at 20-20 with 2:17 to play in
the half.
After a time out, the Lady Hornets
picked up the intensity and shut
down the bombing barrage, regain
ing the lead on four quick points
from Horsting.
The half ended with Westfield
working the clock for the last shot
to perfection and scoring at the
buzzer on Smith's short jumper.
The Lady Hornets led 26-22 at in
termission.
As play resumed in the second
half the momentum swung in favor
of Dccrficld-Windsor.
The Lady Knights look their first
lead of the night 27-26, at the 5:57
mark as they scored the first five
points of the second half on a short
jumper by Lauren Gray and another
three pointer by Spurlock.
Spurlock led all scorers with 21
points.
Horsting connected on a 10 foot
jumper to put Westfield back on
top, but Deerfield answered right
back as Brandi Forrester took con
trol in the middle and scored on
three consecutive trips down the
floor.
The Lady Knights oulscored West
field 15—8 during the third quarter
and took a lead they would not re
linquish at 37-34.
The fourth period showcased the
free throw shooting ability of the
Lady Knights as Westfield was
forced to foul to catch up.
